Found these little guys at the local Goodwill here in Charleston, SC a few days ago.
Mass produced, souvenir material I'm sure but was delighted to spot them.

You can see in this pic-on the bottom of the mid-sized one, it reads-"Bora Bora 1965". Looks like it was written with a ball-point pen so the authenticity of the inscription can't be guaranteed.

also found this wood/plastic relief map/clock at the local flea market-the old guy told me that it was a 'clectable' and that he needed 8 dollars for for it-he took 5 so I 'clected' it.

You can kinda see the 'reliefiness' of the islands on the map/clock here-

Here's a close-up of the tiki on the piece--if Shutterfly doesn't crop it for me like they tend to do.

I didn't know that there used to be a Luau room at the old Hotel Del Coronado.

There was recent mention of it in this timeline from the San Diego Union-Tribune. Apparently it was around from 1940 to 1970.

I hit the tiki jackpot in Vegas last week. Here's what I managed to fit in my suitcase. There was a whole lot more that I wanted to buy, like wall carvings and large masks, that just weren't practical to purchase on this trip.

Here are some new finds in Maine:

From left to right,OoH R-74 ($2 flea market), Treasure Craft mug ($8 antique store), vintage ceramic hula girl with velvet lei ($1 estate sale - if you have any info on this piece, please let me know, it has a tag on the bottom but I forget what it said and its downstairs), tiki leilani salt shaker ($0.50 thrift shop), Chiki Tiki Morning After mug ($2 thrift shop), and a strange blue handled mug with raised tiki images ($1 thrift shop)

also, this pupu server (missing some of the "pineapple leaves") $5 garage sale.

My collection is coming together nicely, as these photos of my basement "Lava Lounge" indicate:

Slim pickens in this neck of the woods of late, but these matchbooks were a steal at under $.05 each! There were HUNDREDS of matchbooks at this estate sale, so my wife and I sat on the floor and went through every one! These were the best. Not ALL tiki, but . .

Two new vinatge mugs found by my junkin friend in a thrift store. This is the second and third Maryland tiki mug finds here.

Luau Hut OMC Ku like the Hawaiian Inn mug I have. Close inspection shows they are different sculpts of the same design. Same green out and orange inside.

Luau Hut hula girl. A rare hula gal showing her book and with nipples! Though these nipples have been abused a bit. More on the blog.

Aloha Jhoes Moai mug. There is a small chip on the chin, but it was either repaired during manufacture, or somebody did an excellent patch job!

A view of the back

Isn't anything from Aloha Jhoes pretty much SUPER RARE? Nice!

That's a great clock.

Wow, that's an awesome "insta-collection" of matchbooks.

I have one of these that I found at a thrift store here in Tucson. It's one of my favorite mugs, as the design really "pops" with definition.

Terrific find on both!

Dang! $5?!????!!!!! I just saw one of these at an antique store, and they wanted $50. The one I saw had more Pineapple leaves but it was pretty badly beat up. I had to pass for $50.

I just saw one at a flea market here with more leaves, but some other damage for $10. Perhaps between the two, I could have one good one for $15.

Ha! Exactly! The one you've got looks like it's in good shape, aside from being sparse on the leaves. I think even $10 is a pretty good deal, especially for the possible benefit of extra pieces in case you ever need them.

Two finds down here at a Richmond VA estate sale. Have had very little luck down here in the south but every now and then run into something. Both items I picked up for 50 cents each. The first is a 1946 Calendar of Hawaii, photographs by Mike Roberts. In great condition, all 12 months no writing on any page.

Another image just because.

The other find was a Weird War comic book. I did not know this but according to this valuable research periodical. The Easter Island Moai are actually aliens. Who knew? Comic book is in pretty bad shape as you will see from the photos but I couldn't pass it up at 50 cents.

Enjoy and happy hunting.
