I like the fact that you got out of your comfort zone. Tikis are cool - but there is much more to carve!

Appreciate your comment Alohastation, especially since it's a
non-tiki posting on a tiki site
I always like to have something in the works and there are times
when the tiki inspiration isn't there. Experimenting with relief
carving, hopefully, will make me a better carver in the long run.
Always looking for new ideas and inspiration (like I'm sure you are!)
and this latest thing is based on Mexican folk art relief panels,
which I think are kinda cool. Thanks for visiting.

Wow, my first update of the year!
A lot has happened in the meantime, thanks Clarita and Big T, and the venerable Basement Kahuna
returned to TC.
I am finally starting to work with wood again, while enjoying the Wisconsin Mai Tai, whiskey
old fashioned made with pure Badger State maple syrup....

After a number of off-shoots I think I am working on a tiki again

I'm still not sure what sort of face this fella will have, perhaps a Marq, maybe something
"tiki modern," definitely no chicklet teeth. A couple of friends popped in to offer their
opinions

It's been nice visiting, I love everything that I see posted in this thread, everything inspires in
one way or another.

I love your style Conga.
Completely original and yet so familiar at the same time.

Thanks LakeSurfer and Heath, appreciate the comments, and it's
great to be doing something that I feel "comfortable" posting here,
not a bird, not based on Mexican folk art, but based on the
stuff we all love.
Oh, and Heath, I love your candy bar too

Eh, no worries Conga!

I do plenty of stuff during the year that has not a whole lot to do with Oceanic Art.
Some pays the bills and some of it just makes me a well rounded carver.

Do what makes ya happy, we'll look at it either way!

Hey everyone, let's have a party!
Updates we have...with a little shadow test

Still some uncertainties regarding the direction we're
going here, but it's hopefully gonna have a classic
"tiki-tribal" vibe.
And yes Ben...the weather is getting better. It's been
a very mild winter so far.
