That "tiki" was on the grounds of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Hawaii and is "pre-tiki" in origin. It is made of cement even though it looks like wood and represents Kamuualii, the Shark God.
He shows up in quite a few old snapshots from the 1910s through the 1960s. The fact that he never seemed to age through the decades made me suspect he might not be wood. If you look closely at the base, you can see the sculpture marks in the cement. I've got a few photos of him myself. Thinking of doing a post about him. Phil Roberts knows about him as well if I remember right.
Pretty important sculpture as it may be the first pre-runner of the new "Tiki Age" (after the 1800s). However a huge gap between when this sculpture was created in the 1910s and the first tikis carved Ed Brownlee in Hawaii in the 1950s that sparked the Tiki movement in America.

spy-tiki that looks like Virginia Bell - though I'm not certain.
The model is Joyce Gibson who was quite prolific throughout the late 60's 70's and making comebacks in the 80's, 90's up to probably 2000. She was in playboy with Arnold Schwarzenegger and on tv in Mork & Mindy and Night Court.

And she posed with a tiki.

So is there anyone who recognizes these sort of wall masks?
(I'm afraid my books to consult on this sort of thing are stuck in a box...)

That's a Mexican tourist mask. Not tiki, unfortunately. But they end up in a lot of tiki bars. There's even one in the Tiki Ti out here in Hollywood.
Still, good enough for this thread, and an excellent photo shoot.

Tikis (all Witco?) as seen in "Playmate Holiday House Party" December 1961
and "The Girls of Hawaii" - August 1961
That might be a tiki on the top of the fourth page?

A sad specimen of tiki erotica devolution. That tiki looks like some sort of chinese dragon troll.
SKIN & BONES Vol.3/No.1 CALGA PUBLISHERS 1971
The only positive thing I can say about this era of magazines is that Ed Wood Jr. fiction shows up a lot in them.
(Not necessarily this title but this genre)
And he was a better short story writer by far than screenplay writer/director.

martian-tiki, while I like this thread, I think it just crossed from titillation to pornographic
which in "my opinion only", in Tikiland there is a line between Sexy & Sleazy
and things just got sleazy.
I don't believe I have a right to tell you what you can & cannot post & I don't believe in censorship or am I a prude, I just think this may be a bit much for Tiki Central & that is all I will say about it.
just my 5 cents,(Inflation)

I'd consider it an observation of the 1970's devolution - which was the intended point of posting it. It was also something I really had mixed feelings about posting anyway so that it got moderated is all the better. (It was just one lack of a censor box away from being not unprecedented for this thread - which is how I misjudged the community standard.)

The 1970s was a major turning point for American society's views on sexuality
in an post Hippie/Free Love/Swingers era, The Vietnam war, The introduction of Graphic Sex
to the mainstream "Deep Throat" and the "Me Generation" i.e. Werner Erhard & EST
It became a time of instant gratification (Drugs & Sex) when society "Wanted, what they wanted, When, they wanted it"
It was the post "loss of Innocence" era and the end of Mid Century Tiki replaced by Disco,Fast Food & over-produced arena Rock.
Adults grew impatient with Titillation and wanted to get right to the "Act" itself.
So ended the Golden era of Erotica, when it was left more to the imagination.
And this is why the 1970s sucked!
