Looks like the alien that was peering through my skylight early one morning. Nice carving. I sometimes wonder if the early tiki carvers were carving the likenesses of aliens, or Spanish conquistadors.

Nice piece Alien, you have a namesake now. The modeling on the face is particularly nice. Where will he end up residing? That last photo is pretty cool looking too.

Mahalo Ben. You've seen this guy too? Hes kinda modeled after this guy.
You may remember him from such films as Alien Autopsy and he had cameo rolls in a few Woody alien films.
I must admit the eyes are not quite Polynesian in form.

Very nice work. I really like the finish.
I think that to get the feel for the resemblance I will need to see you duplicate your reference photo...

Hey Alien Tiki, fine-looking alien. I like the uniqueness of it (is "uniqueness" a word?)

Mahalo Rodeo!!
The last time Wifee caught me making out with the Tikis it was NOT good. And asking her to run the camera does NOT help(you would think it would, I mean its involvement right?) So no kissing tikis, sorry her words.

Far out man! I dig this little green buggers style too. An interstellar job on the wooden alien. However, that picture of the man kissin' the alien is kinda freakin' me out. I have always tripped out on the tiki alien connection and the possibilities there of. If you are not familiar with Rain's art, do a search for him here on TC. He has painted some cool alien meets tiki ideas too. The truth is out there!

That picture always seem to freak people out. The guy doesn't even put down his cigarette. And what do they call it? Alien Necrophilia?
I did see some of Rains art. Neat stuff.
Thanks for the comments, I hope to post a new one, I'm working on one out of Monkey Pod. It is a dense, hardwood so its taking some time.

Here is a "Kona Style" inspired guy made of Mokey Pod.
I was going to stain him but the wood grain looked so nice i just coated it with poly.
I must give props to Benzart. The Hook knife came in handy on this one.
Aloha thanks for looking.

Here's a marquesan inspired guy throwing the double shakas.
He's made out of coco palm, grown here on Maui. I applide dark walnut stain and coated him with poly.
He now resides in San Diego.

Here's one I just finished, made of Koa.
I read these pendants were originally made from old ads heads made of green stone. Instead of just discarding the used ads head the Maori people would make a pendant out of it.
Function before fashion.
Heitiki pendant.
Mahalos for looking!
