JohnnyP - I'm "friggin" glad you like him!
Doubravski - No man, you ROCK. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Benz - I really didn't put much work into him. The one I've given most of my attention to is still being worked on. I'll post him soon. I can't wait to see you and Sherry when you come over.
Marcus - thanks, I like dark stains too. I grew up in house full of mahogany and teak furniture, so I guess that's why I prefer dark colors.
A-A - Yes, lots of heart, sole, and a little flounder went into this guy. Check back this weekend, I hope to post another finished Maori then.
Lake - Thanks, I would rather have a labor of love than my love in labor.....
Mooney - Thanks to you too. I think he really IS a killer. I think he wants git me while I'm sleeping!
Mctiki - Glad you like him, but I really haven't changed or "morphed" at all. I'm the same old tart with a saw....
Loki - Thanks! He'll stay here with me "on display" until I blow up and need to build another engine for the rail - then I'll send him packin'!!!
AlohaStation - So the dark stain grew on you...kinda like that mold did on your palm tikis? Glad you came around
Tikimecula - Thanks for the positive comment!
Surfintiki - Thanks for commenting. I likes him too. What have you been up to? Did you ever get some cedar to work with?
JohnnyP - Close up shots of my moko aye? Why.....? Did your Foredom get there already....?!?
Thanks everyone, the TC Carving Ohana is definitely a great group of folks. Please check my thread this weekend as I hope to at least have another Maori in stain, if not stained with a few coats of spar.

Benz and Johnny - I'll try to take some macro pics of the moko on this guy before I stain him. My camera is on its way out though, so no promises....
Loki - I'll buy another house before I get rid of any toys

GMAN, that is a very nice piece you have created, it is beautifully designed and has a very strong presence. I love the face and specially the mouth on this piece, makes it look different. Very nice indeed.

Aside from the very nice Moari work you do, is that a new toy sitting in the driveway next to your truck?

Hiltiki - He's got some lips on him for sure. Thanks for the compliment!
Helz - You're AWESOME! Thanks for stopping by.
Kapu Kahiki - Naw man! A guy can never have too many hobbies, unless of course, he sucks at all of them......
Conga - It's all about the toes man!
McTiki - It's comin', It's comin', hang tight.... few more days....
JohnnyP - Nope, that's not a new toy. It's just our Subaru Outback (the wife's ride).
Here's a few pics from sanding tonight....
Luke, I am your father.........dang cedar kills my lungs.
And a few of him next to the small guy.....

Hey all,
I've been sweating it out today and working hard. I finally gave up on tweaking this Maori. I could have kept working on him forever, but I have to stop sometime, right? So, here he is. He is my favorite so far.
The first pics were taken during the finish sand, and the others after I got him in stain. I'll see how he is tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I should put the spar on him for a few days. I want to let him cure real well as he sucked up a lot of stain.
After I get him coated in spar, I'll cut in his paua wrist inlays. He'll have one small round Ab inlay on each wrist inside the moko circle.
Thanks for looking....

boy you're starting to knock em all out of the park GMan...this one is really cool...has tons
of "attitude." You deserve to be really happy with this one...and all of your Maori carvings.
They are distinctively "GMAN".
