I thought I would explain the snag we had this weekend. The kiln at the place where we've been firing wouldn't go to a high enough heat to do the glaze. So thanks to Tikimom, Uncle Sam and the IRS it was Christmas for old Pop.

Here is a pic of the new "equipment"

It doesn't have chrome exhaust pipes but it looks OK to me.

tikigap,

A good place to find information is on the net. Paragon and Skutt both have excellent information. I went to a supplier and got the same information in hard copy. The best thing about a supplier is the ability to do some one on one with people in the "know".

We did the prep and the first test heat of it and all went correctly so I guess were ready for the next learning curve.

Benzart: It did smoke a bit and didn't smell too good.

Loki: I have always enjoyed tools and equipment, but you are exactly right. Toys? Yeah, I think so.

TravelingJones: I haven' got the peanut oil yet, but soon.

Just pulled our test mug out of the kiln and wanted to post some quick pics. Here you go.

Will try to post some more pics later.

Thank for looking,
