Lake,

Yeah, the eyes and the nose have me so far...I can't wait to see what the whole thing looks like with the headdress. "Corky" is gonna be great!

BUMP for Lake!

Received the new issue of "Tiki Magazine" and noticed a nice picture of the man's stuff under the Hukilau event page.

Kinda looks the way I remember it from last year's Hukilau. Hope to see it again..........

Way to go Bro'! Now there is some much deserved recognition for a cold water Lake Surfing Tiki Carver from Wisconsin!!!!!

Kudos to you my man. I'm proud for ya!

G.

Started prep work on a haul I made on Friday... Basswood, Pine and some really nice pieces of Ash.

And this beauty will become something special for myself and will hit a couple surf parties in the late summer as a "show off" piece.
6 feet long 2 feet in diameter.

I pissed one of the neighbors off with my angle grinder sanding this afternoon so I'll have to wait until Monday when he goes back to his law office. I'll resume prep work then without any interuptions.

Anticipation.... can't wait to sink the chisels into this one!

Nice score. I could do with a nice piece of ash.

Thanks Marcus!

Took some hacks at the personal project today...

This goes on the back burner for a while because the downpayment on a massive order just arrived today...

Going to be very busy for the next two weeks

Well, its snowing today.

Yep. May 12th and its snowing. 40 degrees.

Look at the nationwide radar. See that green blob over the Great Lakes?
Its not going anywhere soon.
Rain forecast all weekend and all next week.

Carving continues indoors in a less than tropical setting, but with the help of TC bands The Haole Cats and The Intoxicators I'm in a tropical mood as work continues on a huge order. And since you asked Conga, here's a peek...

McTiki... plans are to keep the big one, though I know the wife will ask what we need another tiki for as I've kept some of my best already.
I plan on taking it to a few places that I am vending at this summer and fall as a "show off piece." If someone makes an offer, it may go to a new home.

Back to work...

Thanx BK... if you were only a state away I'd give you half of what I hauled just to see what you'd do with it

Rough carve is done on the 5 footer... hope to sand sometime next week... if it ever stops raining...
Knocked him out in 6 hours over 2 days. Whew.

I am glad you are posting more often lately. I hope to see a lot of progress pictures on your new order. They are fun to watch.

6 hours of work on the big tiki, and all by hand, no power. Wow. I was wondering how long that would take.

That Weather Channel big green blob over you is also over us and is putting quite the damper on carving time here this weekend. Spring in the mid-west.

JP
