Hey Tama, nice to hear from you. Wouldn't shipping make them cost prohibitive? I've been spending a lot of time on trademe doing "research" the last couple months. Endless pool of inspiration. Lots, and, lots, and, lots of that stuff out there, it seems...

Maybe I'll fly to NZ with a backpack full of my resin tikis and trade my way around the country with them.

Not a bad idea Buzzy; Ill scrape off a spare bed and dig out a cold beer for one..
T.Me would be the place to sell them too so it might be advisable to bring a lap-top..? But yes it does seem there is more and more new 'Maoriana' wares entering the market in the last couple of years and the extra competition must make it tough in a small domestic market like ours. You may be just as successful in the marketplace here and/or on eBay?

Im glad to see Im not the only one whose back yard resembles a petting-zoo too!

PS: I think that magic Maori hook-knife might come under NZ Culture & Heritage 'restricted artifacts' bylaws, which state that certain items of particular cultural significance must be returned to Tangata Whenua.. Tell you what - send it over to me and Ill pass it on. There shouldnt be any trouble..

Recent sunset:

I had another
visiting artists day here at the House of BUzz over the weekend. Click the link to see all the festivities. Good times indeed! Might have to do that again.

I worked on the nose and did some overall cleaning up of this guy that day:

Then I had to shelf him again while I made a quick custom sign:

Lot of letters in a small space...

Between the steps of the sign making process, I grabbed a few pieces of exotic wood to work on later:

It's from a carob tree. Here it is with some oil on it to show the grain:

It's very hard and gnarled. Looks like I can get a few good pieces from those chunks. It was a huge log, and those were the best of the bunch.

Then I was finally able to get back to this guy:

I did some more work on the tongue and upper teeth since this picture was taken:

Buddy Cat stopped by while I was working to check up on me and the tiki:

He gave my progress a good looking over...

before he took it upon himself to go get dinner:

Buddy Cat poised on top of the gate, ready to strike.
Good thing it was Taco Tuesday at Del Taco because LuckyBird got away.
For the first time he's hunting something for dinner I've actually eaten before!

How much do you think a contemporary "Maori Buddy Cat" would fetch?

...and as for the couch and a beer, Deal! Since the knife is of such historical significance, it will be best if I hand it over directly. Wouldn't want any chain of custody issues to arise. See you soon! Warn Paipo...

Robin: Good luck on the trip! Have fun.

Thaaaanks to G, Duddy, Cammo, FlatBack, Fballs, seeks, and Ruzzic for the comps on the headress. Now I have to go out in the sun and smack some little pieces of wood off a big log.

Heat wave a comin'

Today's Sunset:

I did some more work on this guy's face:

Just have a little evening out here and there to go

I don't know how much more I have to do on this one overall.

He's going to be one of those ones who I will work on until he tells me to stop.

Kiva just wants to remind you she's still Top Dog around here, even though Buddy Cat does rock.

Thankfully, the sun went down today...

and hopefully an end to the heat is next! If it's foggy tomorrow, I'm going to go outside in my trunks until I get cold. Please be foggy tomorrow...

I started a little cannibal guy yesterday. Here's the progress so far:

I'm waiting for the cool to kick in before I go to work on him tonight. He's going pretty quick, and I should finish him tonight. Unless there's something good on tv.

TDUDDY: Thanks man! Happy the way that guy is coming together. I'm just about finished with him too.

8 o'clock and it's still light out!

I worked from late in the evening to the early morning hours on the Cannibal Guy last night. I didn't quite get it finished, buut came pretty close. Here's where I left it:

TDuddy: So, I didn't want to say this over on your thread the other day, but I noticed you're a highschooler living in the northwoods of Canada(Cammo country?), you're carving a Maori pipe, and you're wearing a Darksideofthemoon shirt...

Yes! It's cloudy today. Hooray for the coastal marine layer!

Yesterday's sunset:

I'm probably about 98% finished carving this guy:

Poor little tiki about to be eaten:

TDuddy: Thanks man!

Murph!: Welcome to the House of Buzz! I think I finally recovered from the weekend's adventures. Howz about you? You must have been dead on Monday...I was, and I didn't even do anything.

Seeks: Thanks bro! I'll be done with both quite soon now...

It's supposed to rain soon, and continue through Sunday. Looks like watering my lawn for the month of May is covered!

Buzzy Out!
