love your tactic of drawing in the crowd with the specialty matchbooks. takes a big man to wear those itty bitty banana hammocks in public. what has been seen cannot be unseen.

Today's sunset:

I split a few logs to make some more wall hanging tikis:

I'll start on these after I finish my last couple projects

I started today by doing some sanding work on the drum tables. One down, one to go...

I got them to look like this:

Now they need to sit for a few days

After I worked on the drum tables, I cleaned a new log with the drawknife

and then finished cleaning it with the ryobi planer:

I noticed a lot of them styled carvings were like that. I thought I'd give it a shot on this one. Some times tikis look overdecorated to me. But that's just me...

does that mean Buzzy has carved close to 6,545 Tikis?!?

That's some fuzzy math there...

I got the second large Maori guy in place yesterday:

With the other one:

Today was back to work. I'm working on a drum. I got it hollowed out...

and then I started shaping it.

I should be able to get a couple hours into it tomorrow. I have the bottom part all worked already so it should go quickly.

Buzzy Out!

Buzzy, you are just incredible I don't think you ever take a brake. As soon as one is done you have 7 more waiting to finish. You make this look so easy. Unbelievable.... anyways your work is great and you are creating some nice pieces. I wish I could go to the desert on the 23rd to see these pieces in person.

A picture is worth a thousand words, a picture by Bowana is worth a million words.

While urinating, Bowana is easily capable of welding titanium

Bowana always knows the EXACT location of Carmen SanDiego

Bowana has the world's greatest poker face. He won the 2007 World Series of Poker on a bluff while holding a Joker, a "Get out of Jail Free" Monopoly card, a 2 of diamonds, a 6 of clubs, and a "Draw 4" Uno card.

Bowana doesn’t bowl strikes, he just knocks down one pin and the other nine faint

Bowana can touch MC Hammer

Just checking in to see what you're up to Buzzy, nice drum!

Today's sunset:

I started the day by drawing out what I needed to carve. First thing I did was transfer my rough sketch onto a scaled out piece of paper. after much refining, I made a stencil and traced out the design on both sides of the log:

That's carve ready now. Both sides have the same drawing on it:

Sides of eyes first:

Then side of nose:

Sides of arms, bottom of hands, and base done:

now that the sides were all done, I had to do the middles. Here's the first face rough carved:

I stopped working on this side of the log because it was getting close to sunset:

Then I turned the log over and got the second side pretty much to where I got the first side:

the other side:

Or maybe that was the first side? More refining tomorrow...

the drum is conga drum height. It's 36 inches tall. 3 inches taller than GROG's drum that went to Colorful Colorado.

It's not for Teakey, but might be going to someone who has a TC name that rhymes with "Teakey."

Hey Greentikipat! I think that feeding the birds is a Federal Offense... Going on the island probably violates state laws...and the water is polluted! Welcome to Tiki Island!

I have some Brady Bunch idols to paint now...
