Just because no New work is posted here in 8-9 days
doesn't mean there is no work to share,kids...
I'll be scanning
and hopefully posting a BUNCH of drawings tonight
And as an added BONUS....
if i can get to the studio with the digital camera..
you'll see some humble beginnings on pieces for
Bamboo Ben's parking lot Sale on May 3rd very soon!
Also, I have a few TOP SECRET projects
that i can't share til they're done...
So no slacking on this end....
just a lil underground for a spell...
See y'all tonight sometime
with some new art and delayed replies to all the nice comments
you've all left!
mahalo!!

This has been a TC Public Service Announcement

Okee Dokee!
Eight!

Eight new pieces i have to share with y'all tonight!
Thank you BigToe,for your patience while i scanned and chatted incessantly this eve...

First it replies
then it posts art...

Duddy-already talked to you earlier....thank you!

croe67
Carolyn!
Thanks luv! i still gotta find a place on the wall for that skimboard...
they never feel finished til they're hung on a wall...
soooooooooo great seeing you last week!
you so cray-zay!

ravers!
Thanks for visitin and contributing so much!
still pondering that LLT listening to the Fish's Song...
i look at it every time i arrive at the studio
and the verdict is still up in the air....
Glad you like some of the non-Tiki stuff....
i'll post some every once in a while
not every week,like Clysdalle!
the skimboard wood grain was a cartoony stylized grain
OVER the original grain,so it peeps out a bit...
I can totally see the Peter Bagge in that Moai
now that you mention it....
teehee!

GROG-grow up...

Kiki!
Thanks girl!
looks like you ARE taking the cue!
So glad that you're sharing your gift for fashion with the rest of us!
now it's YOUR turn to AMAZE us!

MadDog!
We aim to please.my friend!
Most folks don't know i've 20 years invested into this art "hobby"
so it's fun to give the peeps a sneaky-peeky!
As of Now, the skimboard is not completely waterproof
and only a fool or crazyman would pay for an art piece and then
recklessly take it out into some salt water...
your posts make me smile too!
great April Fools joke a**hole!

Bowie!
Haven't seen Sister Wendy lately
my Netflix this week is both venture brothers seasons
and the Life of Leonardo DaVinci part DEUX!
you still got her number?
truthfully, i'd rather see you than her
you're funnier!

blacksandz
Thanks for the happy!
if i had a hundred old skimboards
i would make at least 50-75 of them PNG!

Iokona Ki'i
Vishnu?
his skin is too Smurfish
but thanks for the compliment!
Very pleased with your pastel progress
and that bettie page is gonna be BOMBS when you finish it!
I love how you just up and tackled it headfirst!
Say Hi to Claudette for me!
can she plan my birthday party?

Sam!
Mr. finger carver!
i love how your kids contributed the feathers and beads!
SAH-WEET!
"Stop lookin' at me with them great big ol' eyes...."

now i'm a gonna be thinkin about that whenever a piece needs a bird!
I think with your attention to detail and patience you could nail ANY style!
Thanks for the visit,buddy!

Robb-thank you...
but ,as you know...
one can never rest on their laurels
keep moving or die!
How's that bird beak coming along?

Babs-here comes your fix,Clay Shaman!
I can only hope to amaze you as much as your recent work has amazed me...
Three Brothers is a masterwork,Sir!

Markusk-my fingers, hand and upper neck get a little sore
but having a massage therapist for a wife
helps keep me healthy,wealthy,and wise!
well, healthy at least!

Alrightio!
here's this week's output!
Oh! also gessoed up 18 monkeypod/koa wood bowls and objects for
Booben's parking lot Sale, but didn't get a pic of them
maybe next time....

First off
i went for a Fabric print feel on a few of these...
just fun little exercises, playing with shapes and colors and mood
and just letting it floooooooooow,man!

first one don't have no title
(take THAT grammar,GROG!)

"Kane"

"Ku and Volcano"

"Mask Race"
that's the title that just popped into me head
and i'm a stickin widdit!

"Tiki Tribal"

and here's an abstract
"Newly formed Boy"
not quite tiki
but tiki-ish
mysterious little piece,it is...

and here's the last two..
my favorite two of the batch...
"the Staring Contest"
done in the style of the friend Collector..
(it still smells like sharpie!)
added bonus,i guess!
til the migraine starts!

and this one was inspired by my dear friend Squiddles!
we were discussing the cannibal theme and how i could expand it
examine more cannibals, dig deeper into the psyche and the symbolism of it
but also throw a curveball in there...
it is with this introduction
that i present....
"the Vegetarian Cannibal!"

I just love the terrified little vegetables and fruits attempting to flee!

Not these two!

and there.... in the back corner of his cave
is a terrifying sight!
Heeeeeeeelp us!

here's a close-up of his face...
i love his plumeria eyes!
Not quite useful
but he has a great sense of smell
and the vege-mals aren't too fast....

Welpers! it's late and i still got a lot of stuff to do..
stuff that involves art,but doesn't involve creating art...
like art fleas!

Ah! tomorrow's studio night!
Think I'll play hermit and getta lotta stuff done for booben's parking lot Sale!
Cheerio Mates!

Wow, you should work for a fabric company or shirt company or something along those lines.

Incredibly eye-popping work!
Here's an offering to help you forgive me for the prank

Vegetarian Cannibal
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)

Are you kidding me? Is that all you've gotten done?

I wanna sew a Shaheen-style dress with this fabric. Like this one

I'll take 5 yards, please!

Ok, that little dude on the bottom looks PISSED! Will there be a veggie uprising? They may be small, but there's a LOT of them!

All kidding aside, that's some amazing work. So much to see, so much to love. The Staring Contest is most excellent, I really like the high contrast and popping color! I can't wait to see it all in person at BoBen Party, Pallie.

Fabric of your patterns really WOULD be awesome... so many possibilities..

I wonder if they could capture the vibrance and color in textiles?

Niiiiiiice....
The colors in "Kane" (my favorite) are on fire!
The last two pieces are certainly epic, with "V.C." being a truly twisted twist on the cannibal idea.
FANTASTIC stuff, man.
