Okay, I gave up on the work I need to do to the house and decided instead of sitting here looking at what everyone else was doing (this site is just too addictive!), I should go out and do something myself.
I've had the idea for a while now, but seeing how others have approached it, I was inspired.

Before... when I thought to grab my camera...

While there was still some light...

The end of the evening...

Thanks for looking.

Heath great Tikis! The wasted time is the time NOT spent creating! I love the caster idea too, brilliant!

Sneaky, on that note I had better get up off my lazy butt... I can't help that I'm easily distrac.. oh look, something shiny, ooooh.

Where was I?
Oh yeah, updates.

A little bit of progress.

Another view.

My wife came up with a name for this one.

My wife says that I should leave it "unshaven".

I could then call him "George Moaichael".

What do you think?

For those that have chosen to forget, here is an older photo.

Another on a cover no less.

Remember, my wife came up with it!!!

Sure she did.
The tikis are looking great. I'd also like to add that Heath was kind enough to donate the queen palm tiki to my backyard bar. I'll post some pics once I get it stained(which he was also kind enough to donate). You rule my friend.
Now go waste some more time.

Moaichael it will be. Now you have to hurry and finish it before we forget the name. He will be one Cool Moai-chael when he's done!
Nice having you back "In the chips".

I'm not sure how I missed "George Moaichael", or even responding to this thread sooner, as I've looked at it before and really liked what I saw. The mailbox is superb, it reminds a bit of the tiki spoon / fork sets but much nicer carving.
A bearded moai isn't without precedent - I've seen lot of Rapa Nui guys including moai with little goatees - just don't leave George near any public toilets!

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this and post some updates, been busy...

Matt, you know my wife, 'nuff said.

Tama, I honestly tried, but there's always next time!

Ben, I never really said thanks for all your instruction at the oki oki, so, THANKS! You are truly an inspiring person, and lucky too. Sherry is quite the comedienne!

Bete, thank you for the kind words.

Paipo, where he goes is his business...

Tipsy, you had to bring the monkey into it!

After battling rot and termites, getting frustrated with the lack of daylight and finally being able to STOP LOOKING at everyone else's work, here's what happened.

Not a very good picture, but there is a termite in there that was just sliced with a chisel.

Same bug, a little closer.

George had to undergo surgery...
A nose-job, chin reduction, ear's worked on, kinda bleached a little bit...

He's still A moaichael...

Moaichael Jackson maybe?

His ears.

I know, with the bad jokes, you want me to beat it, don't you?
sorry.

I went back out to look at him and saw what looked like more bugs.

Upon closer inspection...

No, closer...

Thanks Tama and Paipo!!

Thank you all for your patience and stopping by.
