Yeah, I know the colours will be good, but I still dig the sepia! Looks like an old photo that could have been developed from some missing missionary's camera!
It's interesting seeing all (nearly all?) your Mystic Tikis on your myspace page and how your painting style has progressed...these have been developing exponentially over the last few paintings with details and composition, and are now approaching a critical mass of awesomeness. How many more have you got planned?

Hey TS, we truly are not worthy. Awesome skills bro. Luv the way you work up your underpainting to the enth. I kinda start with that, but cant cope and head for the colour. I was never very good at saving lollies either.
I'm frightened to ask, but have you every counted up the hours you would spend on a work like the Sea God Tiki.?

Aloha,
babalu~ I always remember that "magic" drawing thing the Capt did. I was greatly impressed with that. that, plus story time.
Grog~Thanks! Yeah, lots of mood, but LOTS more to do in this one too. I keep thinking, maybe I'll try a easier composition next, and then this happens!
Paipo~Thanks! As long as it doesn't reach critical MESS! I don't have set number to this series, I have roughs and ideas for 4 more, and I can sense more after that. I feel I still have not gotten to the final tiki painting doing everything I want it to do. And, maybe I never will.
Tiki Fool~ PI, actually!
LLT~ YEAH! I'm just a conduit for the Tiki Mojo coming out of the volcano baby! I'll stop when it stops erupting!
Limey~ Hey, as I was working out the light and shadow on the tiki, and it was getting really hard, I was using you as inspiration. I kept thinking of your paintings and all those amazing angles and shading on your tiki figures! So, right back at ya! I'm keeping a tally of hours on this one out of curiosity. I got about 4 1/2 full "painting" days in it thus far. My goal is not to go over full 30 days. A day being 8 hours.

OH, now that's like the worst pic I've taken! Sorry!
Well, we got guests coming in from the mainland again, so I may not get any canvas time this coming week! URK! I can feel the withdrawls starting already!
Big aloha from the Big Island!

Cheers TS. thought you would have to stike out a month, give or take for each one. I try for the same. Some just fall together while others,, well ive been painting lawn for the last week. AAAGGGHHHH. GIVE ME STRENGTH!! I find knocking the top off a cupla coldies goes a long way t' push'n me through. You must find it hard living on the hot end of the Earth. All that... distraction. Meanwhile down here in the south, bergs are sailing past and I chuck a few more cones on the fire. Envious,.. I could be.

Limey~ Yeah, the right tunes and a little "art helper", on those long hauls of shading late into the night. Bliss!

Here's a better shot.
Happy Aloha Friday!

I was beginning to wonder if you had washed some yellow on there. Now the B&W guys need to figure out whether they like the true B&W or the Sepia tone-like version, haHA!

Lookin' good!

I'm Really loving this large tiki, he has been haunting me and begging to be put to wood. Should I ever get around to it, would you mind? He is really awesome, as his lady and come to think of it, the whole picture!

Damn Brad! Your art is inspiring other artists left and right. What an honor that must be. In fact, looking at all the talent and effort going into your painting inspire GROG to go have a beer and watch TV.

Well I know I'm sure as hell Inspired by all this art here in this thread. This latest one of yours is truly inspirational. Wish to God I had 1/4 the talent you have with the paint brush. But alas, the Pencil and quill are my weapons of choice.

Thanks so much everyone! Really nice! Let's hope I can deliver the goods, and get this one done!
I got some canvas time in tonight. (yipee!) I was working on the Mug, and I realized something. So there is a plastic sword stuck through a cherry, right? But what else is it stuck in? A slice of Pineapple, maybe? BUT, I forgot to put it in! right now it looks like it's balancing on the edge of the mug somehow. So I gotta put in a pineapple slice, or paint out the sword and cherry!

Aloha!
