Excellent work Finky,
I'm So Impressed with how tight you got all the detail, even drilling out the bamboo ends. It's Great that you have so much more time for carving now, I'm expecting some Awesome stuff from you this summer and this guy is starting it right off the bat.

leleliz, thanks. I feel much more comfortable doing smaller stuff, so it works out fine.

Aloha Station and Surfintiki, thanks to you too! I wanted to try something different.

Tikimango, Hewey, Savage Daddy, and Clarita: I appreciate the comps. It's why I do what I do.

Aaron, thanks for that. It was something I really wanted to try. The wood is fairly soft, so I kept worrying it would split at the "bamboo" joints. Luckily it didn't!

Ben, I always think of you trying to push me harder to make things better. I always stare at a piece that I think is done and try to think of what you would want me to do with it. You still influence everything I carve. Thank you!

Still working on stuff for the Chef Shangri La shindig.
Here's some hand-painted resins I'll be selling on the cheap: (terrible, washed-out lighting)

Here's a thin Marq pendent I just finished up. The color of the wood is amazing when seen close up. It's made from Ziricote wood and was a complete pain-in-the-ass to carve. The wood is very oily and hard, but beautiful.

Your Marq looks Great, I Thought you'd love carving that Ziricote wood, Fun isn't it? Actually it Machines like soft metal.
Of course I'm Always Pushing you to do your carvings better and you seem to be pushing yourself even More and the results are really showing. If you ever wonder what I would wnat you to do next, just look for all the little corners and little rough spots and Keep cleaning, cleaning (Wood carvers call it "Teasing") until a Macro photo looks good, then you can be Done!
Thanks Finky, you make me proud!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments. It's been a fun week for me!
I just finished carving this piece of red cedar. My daughter thought it looked like a monkey.
I must say that this piece was heavily influenced by TC's Aloha Station. I really like the way his work has a happy, care-free look to it. I wish it came so easily for me.
I am going to make a mold of this one and do some copies.

I'm inspiring - is that like being contagious? Nicely done. So when should I look for my commission check?
