LOVE IT! DIdn't realize how tall it is, until now with you in the pic!
"Same finish as tall lono ( the tar, mineral spirt, jap dryer mix)"
DO you know what page of your thread this was used on tall lono? I'd like to read about it...

4WDtiki its p.41 works great for the outdoor tiki. Tall Lono has been outside
2 years and he is still kicking it.
The old school tar is hard to find. They put fiber in the stuff now.
I used none fiber on Stub It looks and fills like black paint. I did 2 coats.

HERE IS THE STAIN INFO props to The Cockeyed Mayor Of CarvaKaKai
That stain is an old trade secret given to me by an architectual salvage guy who restores old nautical stuff a long time ago...2 parts mineral spirits, 1 part (get this) STANDARD roofing tar, and about 1/2 cup of Japan Dryer. Takes about two days to dry nice. The results on more porous woods, palm especially, are incredible. But you need to give it about two coats of a good matte or satin finish over like Deft or Grumbacher (stay away from that shiny polyurethane slop; number one finish mistake tiki carvers make.)
