machinelf: thank you.

MadMikeDoggie: I sometimes call them hibiscuses myself.

Leeleeliz: everybody (flowers included) should have a companion (hint, hint).

Here is the finished article:

"Red Velvet Hibiscus" - 11x14 - velvet mounted to bristol board.

I got improvisational on the leaves, which is crazy on velvet, but got results I couldn't have planned out. I felt my heart rate go up for a little while there.

I haven't ebayed in a while, this'n outta do just fine...

Beautiful, Robb! What a piece. You do some excellent velvet work. To make one flower on velvet look like that is loads of talent.....

GORGEOUS Robb!

Great "leap into the void" on the leaves
"fortune favors those who dare"!

stunning...

You captured tons of "MOOD" in that one flower.
Awesome

RobbRokks!!!

The center pokey part (stamen?) of the flower looks so 3D. Like a firework exploding.

You guys are just cutting me a ton of slack on this one! Just joking - it turned out okay.

Thank you all. This baby was a tough one, I had to keep adding and adding more red.

I stuck it on the marketplace if anyone is interested.

I've got another one cookin' - I hopa you like.

Sorry I don't have time to show my sketch, the black paper doesn't photograph well and takes a lot of photoshop work to be presentable.

This guy is easy to rough in, hard to make look good.

I don't have time to properly retouch these pics either.

You mighta' noticed there's a bit of a Hawaiian tiki theme going on here...

That red hibiscus just pops! Congrats on making it
through the tough stages. Like seeing the Hamel progress
shots on the new ones.
