Sabu used to have eyes until Squid started living in the same house.
Polly found out the hard way what happens when you hang around Squid---so long eyesight!

Looks like Crazy Al had contracted "Squideyes" as well.
It's not just the glasses blocking his eyes. Here we can see him from the side without glasses in the way, and clearly,
Squid is eyeless. Maybe since Squids swim around in the deep dark depths of the ocean, they don't need eyesight and have evolved to where the eyes are mere slits, and almost worthless as far as sight.
