Cool Manchu,
Still amazed by the quality of your velvet! I don't make it out to Alameda too often, but I will let you know the next time we go and we can meet up. Great score and hope you find the proper place to hang it!

Yeah, I really like her too and thank you for the really nice compliment. I am amazed at all of yours as well. I too love the nudes even if they aren't Tiki per se. I will keep you posted when I go next time. I will also let you know if I ever go to the flea markets up Sac way too. Have a great week!

Enough with the mexican velvets and the afro-american velvets. Here is one of the nicer
velvets I have seen in awhile and unfortunately I missed the auction. This one sold for
right under $90.00.Not sure of the artist name, but she is painted so well it doesn't
even matter. This is full length portrait not 1/2 0r 3/4 length like most velvet women
portraits. The artist really captured the moment well with standing in the water with
sand below her feet .I could kick myself for not getting this, but either way I am
posting for everyone else to enjoy her beauty.

Missed that one too!
TikiMango emailed me about that same painting but I didn't see his email until the following Monday. Too late. Damn. I was shocked to see it sold for under $100 as well.

Well, the last time I checked this thread was was called "Velvet Paintings". That being the case, I have not discriminated as to which genre paintings I have posted.
I guess I could take the time to only post other people's velvet paintings I find on Ebay that are for sale or sold that I didn't buy, but I prefer to post the velvet nudes and island scenes I actually have found and paid for myself.
I suggest maybe you start a thread for "Strictly Polynesian Artist and Polynesian Themed Velvet Paintings" thread? Until then, I will continue to post the velvet nudes and island themed ones here, regardless of who the artist is!
Later,
PTD

Hey Duane I was not directing my comment at you personally, it was a general statement.
You and I are all good.... you know that,It just had been awhile since I had seen any
real quality velvets posted, regardless of who's velvets they were.

Neither Polynesian nor nude was my velvet find today.
Of all the velvets I usually pass on, I could not let this one go today...
Aside from the cartoony GI velvets, I have not seen a military one in the wild and they are some of the hardest ones to find. This was painted by an artist named Boon Song in 1972.

I like that military velvet a lot since I have never seen anything close to it. Good find!

Nice velvet PTD. That is an AC-130 gunship commonly called "Spooky" or "Puff the Magic Dragon" That plane threw out thousand of rounds a minute on a ground target from guns and cannon mounted inside. 1972 puts it square in the Vietnam era. Great find.
