Chipping away at Professor Cocktail's Zombie Horde recipe book this Halloween week. Trying a Founding Farmers (Jon Arroyo) Chief's Zombie for the first time. Used Cruzan 151 instead of the Bacardi that is called for. Very well-balanced Zombie iteration for the most part. Calls for Ango and Peychaud's bitters as well as falernum and absinthe — all of which give this modern take on the classic Zombie enough complexity to keep it interesting. Also includes pineapple juice, maraschino liqueur and grenadine which together probably make the drink just a tad sweet. Will remake and dial back the grenadine a bit, and might sub Lemon Hart 151 as well. I am liking this Zombie!

Jon, Next time you’re at Tommy’s, try the “Rum Babalu”, Kirk and Sweeney rum, lime juice and bitters in a dbl old fashioned, topped off with ginger beer.
If you’re not wowed-send me the bill.
Your friend and mine,
David

Having a Ramos fizz wid my better half. We’re standing under the overhang of the Sharkbite Bar trying to stay dry while listening to that rare SoCal rain. She’s liking the Fizz but I’m not too sure she likes the vintage Hawaiian sounds I enjoy on the Bose. We’re both decompressing after a couple of nights at Humphrey’s and at the Bali Hai.
Cheers

Heh, heh.....I know what yer saying. My wife and I shared a bottle of champagne (Tattinger brut, if I remember right) last anniversary. And what I mean by "share" was she had one glass....I had the rest.

Dark & Stormy.

But I didn't buy Goslings Run. I'm trying Myers Dark instead. Didn't think I liked it on first sip but wow, I'm feeling the buzz! (Guess I was heavy handed but I didn't think I was!?!!!)

Started this afternoon with a Mai Tai, recipe from the Bali Hai in Shelter Island. Orchids of Hawaii X-eyes mug. In the back patio bar.

Finished the afternoon with a Scorpion, recipe from the defunct Moon Islander in Titusville, Florida. Jekyll & Hyde Club Headhunter Mug by Dynasty Wholesale. On the backyard deck under the Huli-'brella.

Doing some taste tasting, pitting some Zaya against St James and Boltran. Not even close-Zaya is still my # 1 sipper! Had a rum “Mule” and a Mai tai at Billy’s, Newport Beach earlier-Yummy!
Cheers
