6 inches of snow so far here in NW Denver, so the only rational thing to do (of course) is to make Mai-Tais and fuggedabowdit.
Got too silly last night.

Okay... last one... then it's lights out.
Thankfully, the wife is splitting it with me.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Rum Barrel...
Nighty-night.

WOW! great presentation. Unless your Superman you might want to put a straw in that drink. Whats in it?

Beachbum's Own (Remixed version). O this is wonderful, but really tart! Will scale back on the lemon juice next time.... Bought myself a bottle of Licor 43 and this was one of the few drinks that called for it.

I love the Beachbum's Own. Have to say it's one of my favourite drinks.

Been tripping through the 70s version of the Trader Vic's bartending manual while waiting for my copy of Remixed to get here.
Foul Weather - A really nice orangey, lemoney, vanillaey, passion fruity, rummy drink.
Orange Daquiri - It is what it sounds like... and with the La Favorite Agricole, it is a boozy delight.
Jamaican Honeybee - On deck... honey, lemon, and dark rum... MMMM.
Yet another delicious tiki Friday here on the Front Range.

This is a drink I made up awhile back and my party guests have raved about it.. I named it the TseTse Fly as a riff on another of my favorite nontiki drinks which provided the inspiration(The Firefly - which is 2 parts grapefruit juice, 1 part Vodka, and a teaspoon or so of Grenadine.). I just looked at the Tiki Central Drink contest and realized it's quite similar to the winner of that contest, though I swear on my stack of Sven Kirsten books that I came up with it on my own. Here's the recipe as I make it. I hope some others try it and hopefully will enjoy it, too. I list the brand names I used. Please don't lambaste me for some of my brand choices, as options are quite limited here in Fresno.
TseTse Fly
• 4 oz. White Grapefruit Juice (I've no doubt that fresh squeezed is better, but I use the Ocean Spray 100% Juice brand with no added sugar.
• 2 oz. Platinum Jamaican Rum (I prefer Myers but have made this with Bacardi Light Rum.)
• 1 oz. Dark Jamaican Rum (I use Myers, but any Dark will probably suffice.)
• 3/4 oz. Passion Fruit Puree (used Finest Call. per Sippin' Safari, the Finest Call Passion Fruit Puree is comparable to passion fruit syrup, so if you have a passion fruit syrup you like, use that. A straight authentic 'puree' is probably not going to bring enough sweet)
• Splash Grenadine
Shake first 4 ingredients with ice. Strain into 14-16 oz. goblet or Hurricane glass. Add ice to almost fill glass. Add a small amount of grenadine (1 to 2 tsps) to the top of the drink and let it run to the bottom like you would a Tequila Sunrise. This last bit is obviously just there to make the drink prettier in a glass. If serving in a Tiki Mug, shake the grenadine with the other stuff..

Got me some maraschino liqueur finally... made a Beachcomber (eh) and a Jamaican Daquiri (awesome), both out of the Vic's '73 book.
Also had a Jet Pilot.
And a delicious Japanese Coctail for dessert.

Sunday night, Test Pilot.
Is it wrong to choose a drink based on garnish? I had 2 maraschino cherries to dispense with, and since 3 are needed for a 3 Dots and a Dash...

Just got a bottle of Senior Curacao, so I made a Mai Tai, then a Marlin. Now I'm drinking a glass of Laphroiag. Mmm, smokey.
