Popped into Lei Low in Houston tonight for a couple drinks.

David our always gracious bartender let us sample several syrups and rums including the Clement coconut which I've never seen on a liquor store shelf, gave us a "night cap" of Plantation Pineapple cuz he knows how much I love it, and sent us home with a t-shirt and some of their house made orgeat and grenadine. I love this place.

Mike, glad to hear the excellent review of Lei Low. I think we'll be hearing more about them real soon.

I had to break down and see what all the fuss was about ...

Picked up the bottle Monday. Started out last night with a classic Daiquiri, which was outstanding. Tonight I went with a Tiki twist, adding passion fruit syrup and a few dashes of Angostura and Pernod. Great stuff!

Jim, hope to see Lei Low featured in This Week In Tiki soon. To continue my praise of the place, the bartender sent me this image earlier today from a liquor store where he spotted Stiggins. He's gonna pick some up for me and bring when he visits Austin soon. Now that's customer service!

Where did you get yours? Anxious to see how you play around with it outside of daiquiris or drinking neat. I've found that a 2:1:1 ratio works superbly for a Stiggins daiquiri.

Tonight for me is a Cobra.

A "Cuban Dry Float". Atomic Grog recipe, but with LS Cuban-inspired 151 instead of Demerara

Had an old fashion (Makers Mark ) pre-dinner, a couple of glasses of Cab with dinner. Remy and a cup of coffee after dinner. Wife had a Mojito, glass of Cab and a glass of champagne after dinner. Home now and I fixed her a Rum Barrel and poured me some Comandan Cognac.
If I could find some mugs life would be perfect.
Cheers

How in the world? To my knowledge Kona Brewing is only shipping the usual 4 to the mainland: Fire Rock Pale Ale, Big Wave Golden Ale, Castaway IPA, Longboard Lager, and the variety pack of all 4.

I was at the brewery in Kona on my last visit to the islands. On the tour they told us that shipping costs make it too expensive to brew and ship to the mainland, so they have contracts with mainland brewers (at that time only one) who have available time and available bottling lines to make and distribute in the US. This means they could change products very quickly to brew and bottle and sell other varieties in the US. They also told us they fly out to supervise the process, as well as the taste and quality of the finished product. I'm guessing that they've been successful enough by now to have made similar arrangements in other countries, Australia for example.

If you're in Kona, don't miss the tour. It's very intimate and friendly, they do a good tasting after each tour.

I actually did a search yesterday and was able to find Pipeline Porter but am still searching for Coco Brown and Wailua Wheat (desperately). I might stock up if I do find them!
