BigT-Western jarrah is a type of Aussie hardwood and thanks for the comp.Cheers

Howdy Tcer's,Here's some shots of a tiki I carved for friend she wanted it based on a tongan
souvenier and plain, was alot faster to carve than my usual stuff and a heap of fun to boot.
pre stain and burn't and sanded.

1 coat of vintage teak.

MORE sand'n then 1 more coat of teak with a dash of a darker stain

Came out pretty kool and went to a happy home.Cheers Watango

Love the tortise shell look of this one. The effect is probably still there in the finished product, just hard to see in the pic because of the gloss.

Thanks guys.

Had a friend pop over yesterday for some carv'n tips and we chopped this guy out in just under
6hrs,he's fan palm but a different species to Socal and was quite soft and stringy in places, should look
pretty kool in the yard.

Today it's back to something a bit more time consuming,
traditional hawaiian ku head out of ash.

Cheers Watango

Jarrah is the aboriginal, and commonly used, name for Eucalyptus Marginata
endemic to the south-west region of Western Australia.
A glorious red hardwood known in early colonial times as Swan River Mahogany
because of the timbers' similar apearance to Honduras Mahogany.

Hope that doesn't sound too pretentious of me.

Beautiful work Watango, dig the shed.

5150-thanks for the comps.

tikibeat-hi Marcus, thanks for take'n a peak.

Amate-glad you dig my pieces.

My latest piece of yard decor in his new home

My mate Lluis came over for a few beers and we sacrificed
this guy to the tiki gods.

Here's a sneak peak at my latest piece.

Cheers Watango

Howdy Tcer's,Been pretty slack on the posts of late so here's some pics
of the ku head.pretty stoked with how this guy turned out.he still needs some more finish'n touches
but is allmost there.

Also scored a sweet hookup with the local city council tree loppers who are drop'n all the
non native trees in the parks around the city(melbourne) so good wood shouldnt be prob
from now on. Nearly snapped the tailgate off the ol girl load'n in two of these bad boys,it euro ash and weighed
a god darn tonne!!!

Cheers Watango.
