Mixing watercolors and acrylics made a great mix. I think sometimes I water down my acrylics until they are like watercolors. I like your subject matter too. I'm looking forward to Hukilau photos. Cheers, Wendy

Lovely velvet work, Robert! I have recently plunged into the world of velvet myself. My first one (see my recent post) was on silk/rayon velvet, but am now fiddling with low pile velvet flocking, which seems to be the stuff that so many Mexican velvet artists used. Sooo much easier to work with. What kind of velvet are you working with, if I might ask?

Thanks Gwen!

I bought the lowest pile black velvet I could find at JoAnn fabric and mounted it to masonite using gel medium.

Your piece is awesome by the way!

Wow one cool idea after another. Your creative mind just keeps going like the energizer bunny. I'll have fun looking at your painting at Tiki Oasis.

Thanks Wendy! Please snap a pic for me!

Happy to announce that my coloring book Chimps & Tikis And Raven-Haired Beauties is now available at Amazon!

You can find it here:
http://www.amazon.com/Chimps-Tikis-Raven-Haired-Beauties-Coloring/dp/1533469725

Chimps & Tikis and Raven-Haired Beauties is a 69 page coloring and activity book featuring the Art of Robert Jiménez. This book contains 25 images to color (the back of each page is blank to avoid bleeding colors!). You’ll find mischievous Apes, mysterious Tikis and enchanting Mermaids! Also included are some mazes, a connect the dots, a create your own Tiki Bar page, a word search, and it’s all hosted by Montgomery the chimp who may or may not have had one cocktail too many tonight! (He has!)

Amazon takes a week or so to add the Look Inside feature. Here’s peek at some of the pages!
