Another artist's thread I got caught up in due to all the wonderous beauty. I don't know I think I am pretty well convinced that there is some secret tiki coffee somewhere that keeps you all awake to do such fantastic work. I love all the minute little details of your art, and the beautiful colors. I am particularly fascinated with the tissue paper technique you use for the color on watercolor paper; it has such a retro awesome look to it. The mermaid ones towards the end of the thread are mind-blowing. Thanks for sharing it all.

Yawn!
Got three new pieces done this weekend
cause i gotta start cranking on a top secret commission
(Oh NOOO! i've said too much...)

All are done

BUT

One i actually shot some step-by-steps and stuff
so I'll save that when i get some more time...
So for today, you're only gettin two new ones
Zat okay?

zerostreet!
Mahalos Buddy!
Sorry about missing out on this swap this time...
lotsa great pieces born outta that!
what are you doin for the next one?

tigertail-Why thank you!
Glad you're enjoying all the arts and artists around here....
friendliest group of folks i know!
and it's not the coffee....it's the coffemaker!
I'll have to do a step-by-step with the tissue paper/ink technique sometime soon...
i have a couple in this thread somewhere, but i couldn't tell you where....
http://www.tikiroom.com/tikicentral/bb/viewtopic.php?topic=19904&forum=18&start=0&2665

Here's a piece where i did a tissue paper drawing and then figured out how to get that look on canvas...
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1584671263974.86207.1451540979&l=2b9a9d0a24&type=1

Experimentation is the key with art-pushing and mixing and blending styles
and seeing what kind of magic arises out of it...

"Valley of the Volcanoes"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood with a Bamboo Ben construction

Here's some close-ups
This one was really fun as i simplified elements and played with the lighting and dimensional qualities
albeit very simply...

Here's the Volcanoes.... I like hoow it looks like they're filled with MAGMA!

and here's out little tiki fellar, wandering about,on the hunt for somethin!

and here's the second one...
"Crybaby Ku"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood with a lovely Bamboo Ben frame

Here's a close-up of the face...
the background was very rough with broad brushstrokes
and then tightening up on the line-work and shading on top of that!

That's all i gots...Beddy-bye Ohana!
and thanks for visitin!

Maha-ha-ha-LO kiddies!
Unfortunately, i have miles to go before i sleep....project-wise.
BUT...in between the serious SECRET stuff
i have been banging out a piece here and a piece there
to prepare some inventory for GOIN PRIMITIVE/MOJAVE OASIS!!!!
Five to be exact,so far......
SO... i have to pull a slow release on these
while i work on the Classified stuff..
so ,when i get time

I'll post another new painting...
Please bear with me
thank you for your cooperation....

zerostreet!Mahalo! This painting was a joy,and like you said....it just spills out! i know YOU know that feeling as well...you can vibe it in your work!
matt!-Gracias Meester Peeg on a Spit! Excellent AND clever! One of my faves at the Burros,Velvets,Piggy exhibition!
there's 2 more late night Tiki bar scenes already painted....

and here it IS!
"the Elusive Straw"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood
with a PERFECT Bamboo Ben frame!

More perils for a poor puffyfish as he tries to reach that elusive straw...
Also threw in a few more mugs i had developed in my sketchbook...
It's late and i need to rest up for a busy weekend of
studies i can't reveal yet....
So goodnight Ohana and thank you for strolling in!

You've got a cool Cubist approach to Tiki art, I like it.

I was browsing TC at lunch break, and a co-worker walked by, pointed at this one and said, "That's crazy!"
Yep, you still got it, Lord Kenneth

Bo-Bo-
MAHALOOOOOooooOOOOOooooo!!
Miss you man!

Tucker's Tikis-
Thanks man! I'm never one to settle into a comfortable style
Part of the artist's responsibility is to learn and experiment and progress and apply
this style has been fascinating me for a few years now
there's still so much to learn about it!

If you'd like to see the birth of that style
or all the other different art experiments
here's 179 pages of em!

Bowie!A hundred thanks,my friend! Glad to see we're still crazy after all these years!

Here's a new one
"Midnight Oasis"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood
with yet another PERFECT Bamboo Ben frame!

If you'd like to see some details...

Dear Friend, page 15 is a super page of beautiful art. I just sat here and scrolled up and down enjoying your creativity. Your art is so unique that it is easy to see a piece and know that it was from your brain and hand. Your art is special and as a gifted man you are humble and dear. What a combo dish! Wendy
