Wendy-Never been called a dish before! Mahalos! Mahalos!
I'm so happy you had some creative inspiration and fun on page 15... I'll try and make page 16 even better! It's all of you,my artist ohana, that keeps me striving for betterment. What good is a gift if you can't drive it into the ground?
mp-love you man! the feeling is mutual....
I can't even begin to tell you how TIGHT your velvets are gettin!
You took to em like a fish to water!
That piece at the burros show still lingers in my mind!
Sven! MAhalos!
How funny!
My friend Kelly said she was just over visiting your hut last week and gazed at some paintings on your wall and recognized them as Kinny paintings! What a joy and crackup to hear that news!
I've been trying to get that gal back to the easel recently
(we used to exhibit together in the 90's-such a talent and brain!) Next time you see her, prod her, okay?
And as for CHANGE.....
Change is inevitable,it always is...
but i think,if it EVOLVES with thought and care
it will still retain that magic!:)
So, i promise you i won't change
BUT evolution still may take place....
I promise to do my best!
Anyways.......here's another one i painted a few weeks back
"the Volcano Bowl"
acrylic and cel vinyl on wood
with a perfect bamboo ben frame!
same series as the other "after Hours" ones
BUT with a change of palette and mood...
Enjoy!
If you'd like to see some close-up shots....

Mahalos Wendy,my art-sister!
Your talent and enthusiasm always puts a recharge in my battery!
Sorry i've been so vacant here lately.
My computer at the studio crashed and i lost 2 years worth of work
So i've been diligent and trying to reshoot everything
and then BACKING it up....
Anyways,I'm about 15 paintings backlogged, but until i get the computer back
all i can share is what i can clean up and post here at work....
So here's one more for y'alls!
This, and many others will be premiering at
Mojave Oasisi-Going Primitive
in just 2 weekends!
Come on up to the trailer and say Aloha if you're attending!
Anyways...
"Baby Cannibal Idol"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood
with a lovely Bamboo Ben frame
and just the painting
That's all for now!
I'll post more as i get time...
Have a great week!

and 1TB external HD!
Now,it's just gathering up what art files i have
and organizing em!
in between getting ready for Mojave Oasis....

"The Bubble-bath Voyeur" of yours turned out great
that thing is lit like a well-designed Tiki Bar!

more of an experiment in colors and whatnot...

"experiment in color" he says...right. Like you don't already have colors mastered.
Thanks for the kind words about the mermaid bubble bath, appreciate it.

tigertail,
one never truly masters colors,we can hop on it's back and hang on tight, but it's never a mellow ride
it;s always nailing it until there's an added ANOMALY...
i guess it's just doing it enough
and looking and observing
and learning how to SAVE the piece...
Thankfully,the wonky colorways get fewer
as the years plod onward...
Speaking of colors, that cereal box series you've been formulating sounds like a fun challenge!
can't wait to see the La-dies on there!
Well, took a break from sealing pieces and cleaned up a few more to present to the tribe....
"Tongue-Wagger"
acrylic and cel vinyl
on a delightful wooden cutting board paddle,
a gift from an esteemed Ohana member
a little Maori-Action goin on here...
i apologize for the polyester pants beige color in the background, but the black messed up the silhouette..
and here's a piece created especially with
Mojave Oasis in mind
"Goin Primitive"
acrylic and cel vinyl
on a very smooth and rounded cutting board
Welpers.... until tomorrow dear friends
or maybe not.....
might be having the Toe and the Horne over for an Artjam
got one more secret guest on the POSSIBLE list
so we'll see....
Last week had the Toe and the illustrious MP for an artjam
the inspiration and guffaws never cease with those rapscallions!
G'night!

Aloha Ohana!
Welpers...this was my last weekend before MOJAVE OASIS
so i thought i'd go a LITTLE PRIMITIVE
this last stretch and ..well scroll down and CHEGGITOUT!
Bought a plaster life-size skull at Michaels
brought it home and it was broken!!!!
So i went back and got another one
(I'll be giving the defective one to BigToe 'cause he likes to paint defective stuff!)
Anyways ,i did some acrylic washes on it to age it,gleaning some tricks from Squid
to give it a nice old moldy skull appearance!
After that i started just grabbing Polynesian motifs out of the air and
ploppin em down in a meaning ful fashion...
i added the sun guy on the top o the noggin to lighten things up...
We're Primitive, but not Savages when it comes to mirth here!
Anyways,after that i sanded it a bit
and incised some more designs into the painted motifs
and stained over them with a few more glazes of raw umber,etc....
and here it is!
"the Ancestor Skull"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on plaster skull
one side..
the back with the sun guy
the other side
and a close-up to show you how i rubbed and buffed and scratched it into pseudo authenticity!
i hope i sell it at MOasis,it gives me the creeples....
There appears to be a LOT of Mana in it!
Next up... just a silly little one
"the Cannibal King"
acrylic and cel-vinyl on wood
Then it's BUST OUT the Colburn Wood-burning Kit
Time to go PRIMITIVE with that medium for awhile...
I'd sketch it out in pencil
wood-burn it
erase the pencil lines (or not!)
and then tint over it with light washes of cel-vinyl....
"the Cannibal's Burden"
wood-burn and cel-vinyl tinting on wood
Later a Philosophical Cloud entered the studio and
during the late night hours
i contemplated a sad Cannibal
remorseful over his loneliness
caused by his overabundant appetite....
"the Crying Cannibal"
wood-burn and cel-vinyl tinting on wood
this one used a variety of color tints for a soft colored woodcut look...
Here's a close-up of the Tears of a Cannibal...
That's it for Now! Gotta go hit the Hay and rest up..
This comin weekend's gonna be a DOOZY!!!!!
Night all!

Beautiful as always...but yeah that skull gives me the creeps.
Cel vinyl? As in animation cel vinyl paint? Where do you buy that stuff? I used to be able to get it at one of our local art stores but they don't carry it anymore or the pegged animation cel sheets. I only have a few bottles of "cartoon colour" left and would like to get more. Are they the only company left that makes that stuff?
