All you need is a "Wilson" and your set.

After watching a "Survivor" episode several years ago I thought "Come on, it can't that hard - even a cave man can do it!" Well, it is that hard!

It definitely wasn't easy. I think I tried around 13 takes, went through a lot of bamboo. Got close once but the wind blew it out, and then finally had success on the last take. Something I learned is the knife edge on the bamboo piece that you stroke against (Z, don't tell Sarah, lol) has to be VERY sharp and very consistent. I had a friends "Wilson" lined up for the shoot (can you believe it, they sell them with the Wilson face on them at Big 5) but wasn't able to get it over here. Big Mahaloz to Lucas Vigor for letting me use his amazing music, "The Dark Continent - Bones of the Land". Absolutely stellar track!

That music makes it SO dramatic! Nice work, Chris.
Lucas, that music is just amazing. Right out of a Disney documentary from the '60s.

At first I wondered if that was some "lost" Les Baxter movie soundtrack (eventually I did recognize it). Fantastic piece Lucas !!
And fun stuff Chris. For your next "civilization" episodes I think you should invent the wheel, show us how rum is distilled, and then do a time-lapse carving of a Tiki using a pocket knife.

John-O, love the "civilization" classification, much better than the "primitive" concept I was aiming for. Don't know how I could invent the wheel (I ain't that smart, lol) but those other show ideas are great!!!

I'd like to see more home bars too. Would be a nice regular feature to rotate with the other stuff. Although I was a little disappointed we didn't see Chris sipping the special drink at the end.
