It was fun seeing the urban archeology in action when GROG watch you guys figure out where the Witco panels came from and digging through Tiki Modern to research.

Where did you guys go? I had originally planned to be there the whole day (something came up) and wanted to look at some of the caveman stuff they have out there..

Where I had wanted to go for long time: to Lake Loreeeeeen!
...or what's left of it! I will make a complete post about the findings (slim), and talking to the natives, in the epic TIKI BIRD thread

What an incredible time we had at M.O. The only downside to the weekend was that it wasn't longer; we'd just gotten into our groove & it then it seemed like it was time to pack up and head out.
Many heartfelt thanks to Amy & Co. for creating such a wonderful place for us to share with all of our tiki friends, old & new. We miss everyone already!

Wow, great album, Tony! I love the way you play with angles, color and B&W effects, and shoot things at just the right light!

Great seeing all the old and new tiki friends. But I thought one of the coolest parts of the weekend was Saturday night in the bar, when we were paid a visit by Spike. He is the head of the Newberry Springs property owners' association. I am so gun shy after living among the litigious members of the Bermuda Dunes community that I thought he was there to complain about the noise. Instead, he was thrilled with everything, specially a chance to talk with Sven, and receive a copy of his Book of Tiki (autographed of course). The next day Sven, Naomi, Amy, Ben and Vicky visited Spike's ranch. I am told he was the perfect host and was thrilled they came. GOOD STUFF!!

Yes, it was great meeting a native, and hearing stories of long gone desert Shangri-Las. Best thing was that Spike confirmed that the Louis Armstrong concert at Lake Loreen actually happened: He was there! (More on that in the Tiki Bird thread)
