Yeah, the unfortunate thing in these types of situations is that most Tiki guys are not good fighters. We lack the alpha-male swagger of our hot rod/rockabilly sub-culture brethren (who would have thrown those douchebags over the balcony). 
Thank goodness for our tough Tiki women.

If these are "friends" of people who were at TO, maybe THOSE people shouldn't be allowed to attend anymore, if that is the quality of their associates.

The problem with a Tiki Event is that a big star of the show is booze. So after awhile it brings in a crown less about Tiki and more about getting bombed.
I think that my First Oasis this year was Awesome but there was a kind of Roam is Burning feel after I looked out from my room after the fire alarm went off.
Every thing that was controlled by Otto and Babydoe went smooth.
But I think that the room party's need to be overseen by the Event/Hotel now. People throwing a room party usually don't have some kind of bar background or bouncer skills. Also they are there a lot of the time for PR so they want to play nice.
So security can play the bad guy,and truly make people feel safe.
It seems quit fixable
1. have all the early room party's on the top floors before people are truly bombed.Then by 8p.m. have all the room party's within 2 or 3 floors were you can have,1 guy at the door of the room party with a security shirt and 2 guy's by the elevator. You would not need security on the top floors because drunks are drawn to the room party:s like a bug to a zapper
2. Don't serve someone with out the right tiki attire. Or someone who looks like the walking wounded.
3. security being around shouldn't be a negative. People want to feel safe.
This would be easy to do if the people putting the room partys together arranged it this way and were told they had to have security outside the room.
Do I think the room should pay for security outside there room? No,the room party's are a huge draw from what i've seen.
So volunteers are great but wearing a security shirt vs. looking like a Mexican law ornament seems more fitting.
I hope this is not a bummer because it is just an idea from someone who has bar tended and worked the door t bar's before.
You cant trust that many people drinking to make the right choices or turn a blind eye to them.

I'm pretty sure these were the same guys who briefly came into our room party as well, turning things into a bad John Hughes movie for a few minutes. We quickly stopped playing our music and wound things down and they immediately left (we weren't feeling any threat of violence at the time--we were more concerned about their antics ruining the vibe of the party, and their attempts to turn things into Karaoke night by singing along in the mics). However, at the time none of us were aware of the fact that people needed wristbands to get into the room parties, only into the official TO events and the middle courtyard area where security was stationed. It is actually a relief to know otherwise, and we have been educated.
I had a good conversation with Otto that Sunday morning which enlightened me on some of the details, and if we host a room party next year we will make sure that we have the phone number for Dr. Shocker at close hand (and that anyone bartending or otherwise assisting does as well), and will call if we see anyone without wristbands or anyone out of control. I feel very bad about what happened to Tracey/Vixen, and as potential future room party hosts we intend to do our part to make sure Tiki Oasis retains its remarkably friendly and courteous overall demeanor, which is refreshingly contrary to most large scale events in which a hearty abundance of alcoholic beverages are being consumed.

I think that would present too much liability from the standpoint of the event organizers (and or hotel). It's probably better that the room parties remain the "private" events that they are.
Example, if someone get injured in a room party or if minors are mistakenly served aloohol, does the event organizer or hotel want to bear the liability for that ??

You can always have room party organizers send a form to the individuals room party host for them to take responsibility of there PRIVATE Party's.
The security person outside the room is in charge of eyeballing the individual by look and age and letting them in or not, BUT the bartender also needs to recheck age and functionality of the individual they serve. Ultimately the responsibility falls on the bartender and person Hosting the party.
like i said just an idea.
Everyone want's to have a good time and be chill.
but the 2% of assclowns who can't hold there own always get the bulk of conversation

the room parties are intentionally private rooms so that they can do whatever they want and not get shut down at 10pm or midnight like the hotel would want to do.
BUT
Like I said, there will be enough security to have at least one guard on each floor and even outside of the door of a party if needed. The hallways are the jurisdiction of Tiki Oasis and the Hotel and we are going to ensure that they are safe.
What I need from everyone here is a promise that they will keep an eye out for these sort of antics and report them immediately rather than avoid them.

Thanks for posting those jerk's info. I did notice a few folks in the hallways that seemed a bit out of place (not thosse ones tho) and looked to see if they had a wristband (they didn't). However, I didn't know what the protocol was about reporting them. I think having a guard on each level will help because if you have to go to far those w/out bands will be gone before you're back with the guard.
To serve and protect! oh and drink and swim, and shop. I'm good at all those things!

I'd of loved to help security and Shocker escort these douchenesses off premises!(had I not been in S.F. that same weekend!)
Glad the whole event had overall minimal problems, though considering the turnout and hours involved!

I have not attended a Tiki Oasis event, so I don't know how plausible this would be in regards to security, but several events I have been to recently have set up a system to send a text message when there is trouble or a potential problem. The rationale is that if people have a simple and anonymous way to alert security, they are more likely to not just look away. So I don't know if there would be way to set that up or what the logistics would be since we aren't talking about a permanent venue. But at least it might be worth looking into...
Sorry to hear that folks had to put up with meat heads who can hold their rum.
