I'm voting for the SPY theme. Hope we can find out soon, as this is the best time of year to buy costume/room decor items.

I think we are already there!
But seriously, why not go back to just "tiki"? I find that interesting enough! But I do like the tiki orient theme...or possibly safari tiki, if we really want to go off the reservation.

So based on the Spy theme for Oasis 2012, who would be an appropriate guest performer ??
Why Shirley Bassey of course !!
I doubt Otto will be able to afford her but there are some pretty good "Shirley Bassey" tribute artists around. Take a listen...

Or how about a Johnny Rivers tribute ??...

The real Johnny Rivers is probably more affordable then the tribute band.
How about Tom Jones? Nancy Sinatra? Lulu? all of them performed great Bond theme songs and I don't think it would be impossible.

There's even an entire James Bond tribute band !! Here's "The Man with the Golden Gun"...

I think that singer is better than Lulu.
And there's Slacktone for the requisite Surf music at Oasis.
They do a smokin' Spy medley (with some Crime Jazz thrown in). Here's a recent set from Don's...

Otto is all about the music. I think Otto bases his Oasis themes on which bands he can get to be both entertaining and throw additional light on the Tiki-Exotica-MidCentury development of popular music that he really loves.
The Mexican theme wasn't just about growing liphair and drinking some darn fine tequila, it was all about how most of the musicians who played Exotica were Latino, and their giant influence. The bands freaking nailed it Saturday night.
This Spy theme is perfect from a music, history, and fun aspect. Let the Strats rip. Number 6 would be proud.
I am SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!!!!

Maybe in the case of Cal Tjader but even "Mexicans" like Herb Alpert and the Baja Marimba Band's Julius Wechter were in fact nice Jewish boys.
