McTiki- Thanx. Fun stuff. Not sure if I'm going to stain the outside of the Moai or leave it natural then gloss it...ideas?!?!
Captan- Thanx. Yep, a friend of mine has a band saw. Wow, what a difference when ya cut flat stuff with a real saw...

I would use a clear semi or satin gloss that has no amber in it. The wood is purdy all by itself.

I see you're using the same paints as me, how are you finding them? I have to water them down a bit, someone on here mentioned coloured stain but I haven't been able to find any...

I recently came back around here and while checking so many posts, I have to say that your version of the moai face on the log (prior to your last piece) is f.... brilliant, the use of the material and what you achieve with the apparent simple carving. Woaw man, it's just superb. Congratulations
