Hey guys, so far not impressed with what I've seen in pictures. For example the bar seems way to small. It's bright as hell too. People look like they're at Denny's or something.

It's the same size as Disneyland's. It's meant to be intimate.

He's referring to the actual bar counter I believe, in which case yes it's much smaller. There are six seats at the bar plus two handicap lowered bar seats. In California there are 15 seats at the bar plus two lowered handicap seats. The inside of Grog Grotto is slightly larger, maybe about 1.5x the size of Enchanted Tiki Bar partly because of the lack of bathrooms inside and also the overall layout. It's not as bright as you'd think, Gold Zephyr. Pictures can be a little misleading.

What was your opinion of the lighting when you were there, Epcotexplorer?

In normal conditions, meaning without an effect in process, it's the same brightness as ETB.

Lighting has seemed fine. Nice and dim.

Any chance you'll review your thoughts on the inside and drinks @epcotexplorer, to add to the pile here?

Haven't been to the grotto personally but I sent a co-worker over there last week who was in Orlando with his wife. I asked him to buy me a couple mugs and he was happy to do so. However, they were out of the grog grotto mugs (yeah, yeah, soft opening....I got it). He did get me another mug I didn't already have though from TS, so happy about that.

It sounds like the help is consistent there. The first words out of my co-worker's mouth was literally: "our waiter was a
smart@$$, I asked if they had the Nautilus mug and how much they were and he said we should buy six of them for $312, then walked away."

On the flipside, they loved the uke player from Maui who was out on the patio during their 2 and half hour wait to get inside. That and the rum flight helped pass the time.

To be honest, I want a few visits under my belt before I do that. I'm in the middle of writing my Master's Thesis, so once I graduate in a few weeks, I'm fairly certain I'll be able to focus on Sam's and analyze the place a bit better.

But I will say this- I'm proud and happy that WDW has their own Sam's now and I'm ALSO very happy that it's being run the way it is. There are a few kinks to work out, like you mentioned, but the place ain't a month old yet. For something so delicate, they're having a great start.

Hm, are you sure you've had A visit? Nothing on twitter or Instagram despite the various other content you've shared since? I find that odd, especially coming from you. I just wanna make sure you actually went there, as opposed to your seemingly mislead thoughts on lighting and the mugs (the glass float thing had me, haha) and aren't stating opinion or speculations as facts.

Meanwhile, here's a few pics from my weeks-long spam. I won't post all, but since people wanted to see a few so here we go:

I want to experience it when it's running normally (AKA, not during this soft opening phase) before I chime in.

Well lucky for you your first visit to Grog Grotto likely won't be any different than how it's been during the soft opening, other than mug availability. Nothing to miss from not having been at the soft opening.

Epcot, you should post your review or thoughts on it as-is now, and then again after you've been several times beyond the soft opening, that way you can compare how they've improved.

I'll probably do that, once I have the time.

Here's the thing. I got to see TSGG in an unorthodox way, I'm not at liberty to really get into it, and I'm eager to see it under show conditions. Can we leave it at that? Sorry I ruffled some feathers.

Yeah, see, I don't quite buy that either. Even my cast member friends who worked on the place or on things related to that place were hardly let in but maybe two or three times at most before cast member test runs. You're saying somebody at WDI gave you a peek before it was up and running? Yeah yeah I know, you said an unorthodox way, but just tacking on another reason why people are calling you out on and offline alike.

For that matter, a handful of us on the boards got to see it in unorthodox ways too, but we can't get into it. Look there's no prize for having been there already and if you haven't been there that's cool too. It's not going anywhere, so there's no real bragging rights for having been there. I probably won't ever be able to visit there again, or not in many many years. I just have a problem with all this vagueness, all this mystery, the "online celebrity" thing. Hey, maybe I'm full of shit and I'm 100% wrong though. If that's the case then I unabashedly tip my hat.
