Hi all,
Stumbled upon your site, drink in hand. Starting up my own little tiki paradise here in Minnesota to keep me warm throughout the year. Site looks like a wealth of information and ideas for it! About me? Into hotrods, everything tiki, 50-60's, lounge, rockabilly, psychobilly, tattoo culture... Looks like a great group of people, If you're in the MSP area, look me up!

Okole maluna!

Dutch

Tiki Rick here. I know, great name, but I just bought $217 worth of rum last week, only to drink, fondle, fall in love with, and decide to recreate a Rum Barrel from Don the Beachcombers in Huntington Beach, meaning another $100+ on pimento dram, farlernum, pernod, and of course more rum. I haven't perfected it yet, but I figured the collective wisdom of members from this site would come in handy. Plus I've been sneaking in to find cool tiki events for the last 6 months or so. Good to be among the faithful!

Rick, I mean Tiki Rick!

Hi folks. LONG time lurker now a member.
I do up a "tiki-deck" in the summer and put it mostly all away in the almost never used guest bedroom the rest of the time.

Hi all, have been lurking and reading for a month or two and today found a topic I need to reply to... so here I am registering.

I am fortunate enough to be in San Francisco where I can enjoy the safe (and I use the word loosely) harbor of Smugglers' Cove, as well as the enticing ports of call known as Cask, John Walker, K&L and the Jug Shop.

Have found many interesting notes and ideas in these pages and my cocktail lab is busy many nights, putting them to the test! Thanks all.

Hi all. Found TC about a year ago following a link from another forum, been lurking off and on ever since. I'm very much enjoying myself here.

Thanks,

Well Hello.

I'm Travis, I've been lurking off and on for a while now, and finally caved and joined. Thanks for having me.

I live in Columbia Heights Minnesota, as you can tell from the picture below. I'm on the right in the black hat with my snow carving team beside our award winning entry to our snow carving competition at work back in March.

Regards!

Aloha to all of you Tiki Fans out there!

My husband and I are big fans of Tiki Oasis, after attending our first one in San Diego, last year.
When I walked into the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and I saw all of the great Tiki enthusiats everywhere...
I thought, I have found "my people"... at last! People that understood just
how fabulous vintage tiki mugs can be... how cool it is to find the perfect tiki necklace... and how to mix a real MaiTai!
Love the music, the atmosphere, the artwork, and the people! We proudly hang two large wooden pieces of artwork by Kirby,
in our own little tiki oasis, at our home, in Los Angeles.

It's great to be a part of Tiki Central, so that I can keep in the loop with Tiki events in Cali.
Also, to be able to ask all of you seasoned Tiki peeps out there, everything about Tiki culture.

Cheers!

AnitaMargarita

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I recently purchased a bottle of Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut Liqueur. From searching on the internet for drink recipes that use it, we found Tiki Central. From these wonderful forums we discovered Forbidden Island in Alameda and visited last weekend. It was amazing in every way, from the drinks to the decor to the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. We are now officially hooked on tiki culture!

Nice to meet you all! *wave*

Sticky !! Make me stick.

Hello new people.

My advice on TC - "Keep a thick skin". (And don't drink too much).

Aloha, my name is Andy Panda and I live in Bethlehem PA. Polynesian pop has been a passion of mine for many years, and I'm really happy to join this forum to talk with like-minded people all over the world. I have a tiki lounge in my basement, complete with a bamboo bar, palm trees, lounge/exotica tunes and many SHAG prints. I'm currently finishing off the basement powder room in bamboo and tiki decor, with an emphasis on artwork and fixtures from the WDW Polynesian Resort.

I also have created a Facebook page called A. Panda's Tiki Lounge, check it out if you get the chance. I'm hoping to bring the Polynesia/Mid-Century Modern/Space-Age Bachelor Pad aesthetic to the Lehigh Valley. To this end, I'm working closely with my friends at ArtsQuest, an Arts&Culture organization here in Bethlehem. Stay tuned for announcements of a new event at the ArtsQuest Center, a brand new venue located in the shadows of the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces. I will be looking to this community for help in crafting this event.

Mahalo!

Aloha Tiki ohana. I joined around March 17, 2011. I don't remember doing this or not doing this. At the beginning of my trying to join Tiki Central, I had problems with screen names and email address connections and TC would not let me do what I thought was required. Eventually with the help of Lukelele (an acquaintance from other activities) and BigTikiDude I got fixed up. I must have posted a newbie introduction but I don't think it stuck after having reviewed my replies that I authored.
Here it is:
I live in So Cal in the Torrance area. I dig and customize classic cars. Tiki is a recent rediscovery. The more I dive into it, the more I realize that Tiki was a big part of my life while growing up. I remember being taken to Tiki lounges and staying in hotels with Tiki themes as a kid. So old cars and retro Tiki are what has kept me happy in my hobbies. I am happily married to soul mate Patti. Together we have two sons and collectively we have a daughter, three sons and three grandchildren. I am currently customizing a ’51 Ford Victoria with a Polynesian theme. I drive a ’62 Thunderbird called Tiki Bird and my middle son and I customized a ’64 Plymouth Valiant station wagon in a ‘60s style. I can’t wait to start participating in the different Tiki things going on around town, meet a few Tikiphiles and sip a few tropical drinks while doing it. So bare with me and my rediscovery of that old Tiki love that has recently surfaced while I get into the flow.
Mahalos,
Tiki Slob (Michael)
