Well it took me about 5 minutes to find it and I shouldnt tell you how easy it was to find it, but it was the old....well I just cant spill the beans. I waited 5 days for the damn thing and some person bids on it in the last hours and I think "OH SHIT you cant have nothing, so I sniped it by placing a $30 snipe on it. I figured I was going to pay that much before and I also figure others had sniped it, guess not. Key word "Otagiri"

An interesting provenance almagam for this Otagiri skull mug. It was made by Otagiri for Hawaii Kai, but eventually had a "Hawaiian Inn" label placed on it. Perhaps Hawaiian Inn bought up some deadstock from Hawaii Kai, or the purloined mugs are sometimes taken for use in other locales? Ha ha, just kidding.

Nonetheless, I do have a skull mug very similar to this style. It is matte white, and has a shallow imprint "made for trader vic". The seller says he got the mug at Kelbo's way back in the 60's at a college fraternity event. I sorta believed him, now I have a bit more reason to. Them mugs gets around I guess.

I have a Hawaii Kai skull mug but it has 'Hawaii Kai' printed on the forehead of the skull.

Hey Bong,

I saw that mug in NYC! Cool mug, heavy weight and in mint condition, but the guy wanted $45 for it, so I had to deny!

Waiting to spend my $$ at the Tiki Farm Bash.

This should be a good one!

Aloha,

Arty

Fantastic Tiki mug deal alert!!! You still have an hour to go and this mug is a real steal at $16.14, it is quite a nice example of a very rare mug.

I almost picked up this design at the Oceanic Arts warehouse...glad I held out.

Now...does anybody know what the Jekyll and Hyde Club is?

The Jekyll and Hyde club is a really cool restaurant in NYC. There are two of them, one of them is like around 57th st or so and the other is in the Village. They are spooky theme restaurants but I think they are the best ones! These actors walk around dressed up as monsters and make fun of people and they have these shows that go on every now and then. One of the best parts, you have to find the bathroom, it's hidden in a bookcase!

I know Tiki Bob's. I live just a few blocks away from where Tiki Bob still sorta exists. Tiki Bob's is my favorite place.

I am not going to get this Tiki Bob's mug on ebay, not unless I sell my kidney to that old dude in Visalia.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=722096886&rd=1

Where did I put his number? I'd still have one kidney, and maybe a few bucks left over for a Tiki Leilani mug!

I know Tiki Bob, Tiki Bob was a friend of mine...blah blah blah. I don't "need" two kidneys, right?

Once chatted with an ebay seller of four Tiki Bob mugs, two Moari, two signature models. Her friend picked them up at a "roadside store" in California. A whopping $2 for all four. Sold them for around $600-700 on ebay.

The second "moari" Tiki Bob went for $150, the opening bid. I think the seller could have done better with a lower opening bid and a reserve. Just goes to show, one sells for $295, the next one $150.

Go figure.

On related note, at least I am saying it is related, visit the October Midnite Tiki Mug Sale:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=cpt.midnite&completed=0&sort=3&since=-1&include=0&page=1&rows=25

Shall be listing a few more items this weekend. Peruse the goods, ya may find something for that special person...you!

Thanks for the indulgence,
midnite

Hmmmphh, looks like this thread is pretty desolate. C'est La Vie!

Anywho, instead of starting a whole new thead I thought I'd post these here. Yeah, $295 for a Tiki Bob is a pile of cash, but howzabout $305 for a newspaper?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=729509458

Not bad, eh....howzabout $103 for one napkin? Yep, a F &# ing napkin!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=729509489

Unreal
