Hi everyone,
First time poster so be gentle

I got this carved wooden canister set on Ebay a little while ago and after doing some research am unable to find out anything about it. It looks like they are each carved out of a solid piece of wood with a seperate top and can nest together. The carving is beautiful, very detailed and features pictures of huts, people, the sky, tree, fish, etc and has either flour, sugar, coffee, or tea carved into the wood as well.
I would guess they are hawaiian/polynesian but not sure. Does anyone else have any guesses or know anything about them? I'm putting one picture of the set on here and more detailed pictures can be seen at
http://www.angelfire.com/linux/myshrall/canisters.html

Thanks in advance!
Kristen

I'm not sure of the origins ( phillipines? ),
But they were an item that was sold at Tiki Gardens. This doesn't mean your set came from there, but they might have. I'm sure they were in about every self proclaimed "world trade bazaar" in the sixties and seventies.

Thanks TG,

They do look somewhat similar to the ones you have. Can't find any markings on them to determine exactly where they came from but oh well!
