There's a thread for full exotica LP downloads, but I thought it might be an idea to have a thread for one-off songs/tunes that might be of interest to Tikiphiles.
To kick off, here's one from the pages of the excellent "365 days project". It's called "Lee Edwards (The Christian Con Man) - Maui Girl" and is completely insane.
http://mediamogul.seas.upenn.edu/pennsound/authors/365/365-Days-Project-04-22-edwards-lee-christian-con-man-maui-girl-1983.mp3
"Is it a melodramatic plea to win back his girl? Is it a maniacal poem describing the girl of his dreams? Is it the drunken ravings of a guy who couldn't press the "stop" button on his tape deck?
"He shook her coconuts!"
You'll be compulsively blurting out that line after only one listening."

"she laid her sunset on me"???!!!
(I'm tempted to type every line from that song. Oh shit! But I'll refrain. FOLKS LISTEN TO THIS GOOFY SONG!!!!!!!!)
Brilliant!
That Maui Girl's really something, huh?

I have been downloading songs from 365 for the last couple of nights.
I plan to burn a CD that will drive my wife completely nuts so I'm not alone anymore. What, what?

God, I'll be plumbing the depths of that website for the next couple of days. Thanks.
The high school chorus covering "Fox on the Run" and "Sunshine of your Love;" the French Canadian woman singing the Beatles' "Help;" the song "I'm a Mormon." Lots of hilarious and disturbing stuff I had no idea existed.

Glad you all liked the tune and the site - the 365 project is a work of warped genius!
Here's another curiosity - Al Harrington singing a song called 'living together' from the LP I Love This Land (Maui Records).

It's from another page of weird music called 'The Oddball Auditorium'.

Isn't Live 365 a streaming audio site? I would love to download from there, but I don't know how to store streaming music on the hard drive. How is it done?
I'm sure I'm showing my computer ignorance here, but what the heck.

The 365 days project is a page with a downloadable MP3 for every day of the year. Each one is from an obscure recording that makes you either raise an eyebrow or laugh out loud.

Live 365 is indeed a streaming radio site, and I'm fairly sure that you can't actually save any of their streams to disc.

Here's something rather mellow and very new age. (Not sure if that would appeal to anyone here!) This is an album available for download made up of field recordings made in Fiji. Of particular interest is the track (#4) made from sounds recorded during a Kava ceremony (which I'm confident would appeal to a great many on Tiki Central!)
"Kava drinking serves many purposes in Fiji. Prepared by pulverizing the root of a member of the pepper family, the drink has social and religious functions. Kava is shared in a group, with a common bowl passed from person to person, all served by the youngest. A tingle on the tongue. An easing into comradeship. Clap before you drink."

The album cover is well worth downloading too (you can always use it for a self-compiled exotica CD):

While you are there, be sure to check out the other albums along the top of the page. "Maritime Suite" is a magnificent hypno-ambient work. I think "Starboard" might appeal to some here in the forum.
Thanks for the link Trader Woody. Great stuff.
