OK ,upon further inspection it is thin porcelain, and it seems the little notch in the bottom of the top section,is for a electrical cord to pass through, and the base perfectly holds a
'Dept.56' light,with a metal clip.Snaps right in.
HERE YA GO,

That's truly a thing of beauty!!
Thanks for wiring it up!

Here are a few things I picked up recently:
A Huki Lau mug that appears to have a case of vitiligo as it is missing the green glaze around the left eye and lips
A small puffer fish that will soon have a light installed
A steel Primo pull tab beer can
A naked woman bottle cork
and a pair of United Airlines, 1974 Hawaiian Open, Jim Beam decanters
The decanters have a funny story, 2 summers ago I saw this same pair at a flea market, I asked the guy for a price and he said $90...I protested and he finally said $75 was his low price. So I let them go.
I go to that flea market regularly and never saw them again, until last week... There they are again,... I walk up to the same guy and ask, What do you want for those decanters?...he says $3 each or $5 for the pair. I just handed him a $5 bill and never asked about his change of heart.

Trench Art Album Cover - 1942-1946 Guam - By E. Gould - Bought for me by my lovely wife from Yellowfish Trading Co. in beautiful Hanalei, Kauai on our honeymoon.
And the back cover...
Sadly the pictures in the album are no longer there, but some cool old clippings of jazz musicians still adorn the inside cover.

Found this baby at an antique mall last week! Orchids of Hawaii R-94, not in perfect shape, but certainly still awesome.
Her face is a little ehhh
The base is a little wonky/lopsided too, see where it lifts up on the left hand side?
I've never seen that little rectangular nub on the bottom of one of these, is it normal?

Here are some of my favorite finds from the last six months. All from thrift stores here in Victoria BC.
32" hand carved, we named him Steve.
Punch bowl (leaks) kinda Tiki...
two half shots 50cents each
I Ula Tavatava. I need to do some more research on this one.... Doesn't look like a tourist item to me, but I'm no Fijian war club expert!
Ive found lots more nifty Tiki stuff, but its kind of a PITA to post pics here

I don't stumble across much tiki stuff in my part of the world - more likely to come across genuine Maori carvings than vintage tiki chic - but somewhere along the way I came across this string of lights. Still waiting to find the perfect place for them.
