What a great idea! Sounds like you saved that sign just in time, before it ended up in the scrap heap.

I came across this Leeteg Tahitian Chief authorized copy yesterday:
Its hard to see here, but it looks like someone tried to scratch off "copy"...it still has the Barney Davis sticker on the back too
Pretty good quality as far as these copies go:

It was gonna end up in the motel's pool first haha!
Best part is that after paying for a crane and scaffold and a bunch of cutting disks for the grinder I still brought that big bastard home and made $600!

These masks are supposedly brought back from the Pacific Theater after WW II. Haven't seen them in person yet but he's asking an arm and two legs. Any opinions on age, etc?

Personally, I don't think they're very old and aren't valuable either. I wouldn't call them tiki. Mass produced cheaply done tourist items. Don't pay a lot because they show up at thrift stores. But like we often say here, if you like them, you decide what they're worth to you.

I've noticed more sellers from various online sites using WWII as a selling point for "South Pacific" artifacts.

You have to love it when you come home from work and find this waiting for you.
The lil lady went hunting and came home with these...

Nice finds H10. I have that pirate decanter in a different color scheme. I think they are painted and fired by "crafters".
Cheers

last week's junk:
Mostly Hawaiiana stuff.
Hawaiian Long Beach, Outrigger Laguna Beach, Trader Dicks, and Fairmont/Tonga Room matchbooks
Hawaii paper:
Hawaiian artist Rocky K Jensen Gold and silver proof sets of pogs
Signed bio/info cards that came with pog sets
I'd forgotten about pogs since their heyday...
Outrigger SOS, Alii's, and Don Ho glasses
two Primo cans, empty
Can pull tabs were still inside
Unmarked lava piece, probably Polyart
Jim Beam decanter, full
Buzzy Out!

Buzzy, I'm wondering if the Polynesian Cultural Center piece you found has the artists name on it anywhere? The style looks familiar.
And Uku I've always wondered where and when those masks came from. I see them around occasionally and though I've never picked one up I would still like to know more about them. Anyone?

Looks like those Matson menus, to me. No credits in the book, but it looks like the signature is "KARA". Maybe "KAPA."
Buzzy Out!
