In all the years I have been going to garage sales, swapmeets, and antique stores I have NEVER found anything remotely cool in the tiki world. For my first ever tiki find in "the wild" I am pretty happy.
I turned a corner in an antique store and saw the mug precariously sitting on the edge of a shelf. I grabbed it and turned it over to look for the the $200 price tag, but nothing. The cashier charged me 7 bucks. It is as mint as a vintage mug can be.
Here is the bottom of this mug.
And the bottom of the Bumatay I already paid a lot for on ebay many years ago.
Does anyone know the significance of the two different bottoms?

If you build them (Tiki mugs), they will come!

Well, I guess I better start getting more sculpts going and pouring more mugs. At this rate it will take me about 30 more designs and maybe I will stumble across an original Ren Clark's Severed Head!

Hate you. [Not really. Glad it went to you. If there's tiki in Pittsburgh, it needs to go to one of the two of us. Hahaha.]

This week's stuff:
PNG piece:
Concrete tiki
Little okolehao bottle
Lidless TFarm Bali Hai mug and a Chiki Tiki Coronado mug
Two matchbooks:
A pair of harcover movie production books for Hawaii and South Pacific
They're a cross between a program and a behind the scenes making of. They used this piece in several posed shots of the participants:
I liked some of the renderings in the South Pacific one:
Buzzy Out!

Btw, the Silvestri company use to make mid range (sorta crappy) garden decor, dish-ware, and tons of Christmas stuff.

Have been traveling alot the last several months and it's been quite awhile since I have posted .Thought this was worthy of a mention.Vintage travel bag that looks to be original NOS not reproduction.I can't take credit for the find , it was passed over by another fellow well known tiki enthusist .Prestine mint condition inside and out.Does not appear to be ever used .

Sure glad I'm retired. I was able to go a yard sale this morning and found a couple of rare mugs. The Moatu decanter set by Shag and a mug made by schoontiki. It is a limited edition of 50 made in 2001. I liked the dream of Tiki as well. There were no markings on the yellow one, probably a home made.

These are at a local estate sale. Does anyone recognize them? Are they tiki? Thanks.

Wow, some impressive finds, folks! It's inspiring to see so many people finding great stuff, especially some still in SoCal. That Moatu set is amazing.
