Chum, as in shark bait? or chum, as in talk from an old 20's gangster movie?

I am so happy to see this Chum forum. Perhaps I can get some answers to some nagging questions I've had.

I have been collecting Chum Buckets for some time now. I used to be strictly into vintage Chum but recently I have added a few of the newer plastic Chum Buckets.

Does this degrade my collection?

Additionally, I am at odds with those that believe that Chum Buckets should be thoroughly rinsed before being put on display. I've always thought that without the aroma, one would be missing out on a big part of the total Chum experience. Am I missing something here?

It's also a type of dog food - Pedigree Chum.

And 'Bum Chum' is Brit slang for homosexual.

A chum is another word for friend over here, BTW.

Clearly this forum is for us Chum Bucket collectors. Please let's try to stay on topic.

This is the latest addition to my collection. A fine example of modern simplicity and efficiency.

C'mon you collectors. Show us what you have.

Well, in the old 1960's show, Batman called Robin "chum", so that makes sense.

Cherry Rum Balls (aka "Chum" Balls):

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup rum
1/4 cup light corn syrup
3 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup confectioners' sugar
24 red candied cherries, halved

Melt the chocolate chips and stir in the rum and corn syrup.

Stir together the vanilla wafer crumbs, pecans and 1/2 cup of the
confectioners' sugar. Drizzle the chocolate mixture over the crumb mixture and stir until blended.

Shape mixture into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in the remaining confectioners' sugar. Place cherry half in center of each cookie, pressing down lightly. Store in an airtight container for several days to develop flavor.

Makes 48 cookies

Yummy Chummy!
