Yo G!: I know I got Tiki-sinusitus. All the sanding makes magical things appear in my nose. I think I'll like tiki-itus. I like all tiki related ailments.

I hear ya. I'm taking a brief carving break to chase wild hogs here on my hunting property (they tear the place all to heck) but I'll be back feeding my tiki adiction soon. I hope to see some wicked progress shots of this bugger over the weekend. Back attcha on Monday! Have a great time...this one looks especially fun.

After a lovely wood chip to the eye (have 3 pair of goggles, none of them were on my FACE!) A little more progress on mini-marq.

ST,

Dude, that's tight! Looks real good. He looks quite content. How big is he? Any ideas of what type of finish you'll be using?

Glad your eye is ok. You need to wear those glasses! I wear glasses and a face screen when I use the saw. They have saved my eyes/face 100 times over.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it looks to be as though he is turning his head. That is extremely cool in my book. i have been sketching a few that were doing just that. I think it looks as thou they are living, or have potential to do so. Very nice indeed.

It's those big eyes, PalmCity, when he saw the GMAN, get it in the eye, he turned his head and now will have to be that way for the rest of his life. He definitely has a bit of a personality going there. Overall, just a really nice, comfortable looking carving. What is he, about 10" by 20" high?

He looks like a good luck tiki for some reason. I'd let him guard the Lotto tickets. More progress shots would be cool!

Oh man, that's how I feel right now. That sweet potatoe pie took me over the edge. Wow, he looks great, Surf. Very clean original looking piece. What kind of stain is that? It's just the right amount of reddish tone to the brown.

Thanks
AA: I bought another can of Minwax, Red Mahogany, it's now my fave for just the reasons you said...Dark, with hints of red. I tried something different too, did one coat, sanded a lot of it down, then applied a big, fat, heavy coat, that I DID NOT wipe off. It's taking days to dry, but it is drying...been almost 4 days, and just about dried. I'll poly it too, to get that shine, and bring out the reds a little too. I made a big belly on this mini Marq, because the person who wants it, wanted a Buddha-like belly.
Hewey: I ate so much, my belly looks like the belly on the tiki!
Conga: He's 15". Get a small log you can carry, and carry it right into your basement! Chip away. What better way to spend a cold winter?
