"We can't do the freak dancing!!"
Dances Cancelled in Lemoore
Students at one high school are trying to save their dances. At issue is a certain type of dance that school leaders say is way too racy.
Many students at Lemoore High School still think it's just a rumor. But, once they return from winter break on Monday, they'll soon realize it is no joke — all of their dances have been cancelled.
Remember that movie Footloose, where kids in small town were forbidden from dancing? It's déjà vu at Lemoore High School.
Though these days, the kids are doing a lot more than just moving to the beat.
They're doing what's called freak dancing, where two partners simulate sex on the dance floor.
Principal Jim Bennett has had enough, "The dance that was about 3 to 4 weeks ago, I got on the P.A. — stopped the music on the P.A. — and I said we can't do the freak dancing ... it will not happen. If you're going to do that, this will be the last dance."
Bennett has followed through. Sadie Hawkins and the junior and senior proms have all been cancelled.
Sadie Hawkins chair, Kaydee Naylon, says she's worked too hard to take no for an answer. She wants to solve the problem, "There's no true definition of freak dancing, and that's the first problem. It needs to be defined by the administration for the entire student body and they need to break it down — you can do this, this, this and this, but not this."
Students say things like rubbing suggestively against a partner, groping, simulating sexual intercourse, making out, and lap dancing should be under the definition of freak dancing. Anyone caught doing those things will be kicked out.
Principal Bennett says he'll agree to the new policy, as long as it's followed.
Students say they'll even go so far as to post a dance policy around campus and even send letters home to parents before each dance.
The principal says they can have a trial run at Sadie Hawkins next month. Though, he says at the first sign of freak dancing, all dances will be gone for good.

Kids these days!
Did anyone see the 20-20 special where they showed these college kids who have "pono" parties were they hire pros to direct amatuer porn? These kids have the desire to be porn actors themselves one day!
Whatever happened to wanting to be a Doctor or lawyer?
I am no John Ashcroft here, but I really think kids these days are way too obssessed with sex and money...
Well, I guess when Paris Hilton is your idol, thats what happens!
When I was a teenager, we just wanted to get high and break stuff.

Its kind of a mixed thing. On one hand I have a couple of mid-teen relatives and the dances they do today are basically sex with your clothes on. Having said that, I lived in a small midwest town for several years during my early teens and I can say they are heavily conservitive - as we have seen with the last election.
I guess I'm a little more liberal. My view is; Elivs was considered too sexy at one point and now his moves seem rather tame. If you tell a young adult they can't do something, that's the same as saying try it, its exciting.
I don't know, I guess I call somewhere in the gray area on that one. I beleive that at some point, there are gestures that are not appropriate no matter what, but I also have seen schools and entire towns deem something completely innocent as "evil" or a "sin" and that just burns me.

Here is a classic example that things just don’t change.
Remember the movies they showed you in school to try to scare you away from drugs?
I think I read a report that it actually introduced a lot of kids to drugs.
Anyway, here is a video, an embarrassing and pathetic attempt, to try to “frighten” kids away from Freak dancing. They’ll probably just learn some new moves instead.

I didn't..... My mother used to be one of the parents that kept a look out for any dry-humping activity. Saying that, I realise now that she would have found it funny rather than a federal offense.
