This one is pretty much done minus a wee bit more sanding and the finish.



The Akatara cracked and didn't take the fix so it's scrap now.



New Project. 3.5" thick slab of Black Walnut.

Have not had a lot of carving time the past month. Have a parent with cancer so it has consumed most of my free time and weekends. Doing better now, surgery in a month so hoping to get out there and carve for the next few weeks?


This one is taking shape.

Rough out is just about done. have some clean up to do and then a lot of sanding.



I had forgotten what a geometric nightmare these are. The carve needs to go so many directions it makes it tough to get it right.

The grain of that wood is so nice it almost seems like a shame to cover it up with more detail. OR it will only look better!!
