Ok question, I got a new log today. Some kind of palm.. When I cut into it a smell of,,, amonia hit me.. Log looks great but the smell.. Any thoughts?

Actually the cat or dog peeing on the log is a pretty good explaination. Usually fresh palms will smell sweet and then the mold comes and gives it a pretty acrid smell but I don't think it is like ammonia. Not sure.
