Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! Here's my latest Moai carved from AAC. He stands 3' 8" tall.
Here he is unpainted...
and then with his pukao headdress painted the color of red scoria like the originals, and a dark gray basalt ahu.
I took some liberties with the body style: although the Rapa Nui originals have man-breasts and pot-bellies, as an endurance athlete, I couldn't bring myself to carve a flabby Moai, so I buffed him up abit. I also stylized the arms and hands crossing the lower belly.

Man Palama, considering we took up the AAC at the same time you really showing me up! These things are gorgeous. Love to see one with the whole body/head done in the grey finish with the red headrest. Awesome work dude. You must have a moai forest happenin now

Nice one palama, I love the body. You sanded the hell out of him too,, so much I bet he sings in the church choir. Nice paint job too!
