I've been to many of these places, living in LA (especially) ... would love to know of others to go to.

Wow, this is already a pretty comprehensive list. I'd add in the following...
1. In my beloved K-Town there's the Prince and Frank & Hank's.
2. Hank's Bar - Dunbar Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. It became Hank's in 1959 but I believe the bar dates back to 1933.
3. Here's my review of the Short Stop in Echo Park.
4. Not too far from Tiki-Ti is the Drawing Room (1968) which is a good place to go if you want to get into a drunken fight. Across the street is Ye Rustic Inn (1971) where you'll find the smells of fried food and slumming movie stars.
5. In the SGV, there's Embers-related (same owner) Poor Denny's Saloon and the Crest.
6. Big Dean's - A funky beach dive at the base of Santa Monica pier. It's the oldest bar in Los Angeles dating back to 1902 (albeit under different names).
7. Town House in Venice - This place dates back to 1915 !!
8. Billingsley's Steak House in West LA - 1946. I love this place.
9. There's several places in Culver City - Cinema Bar (1947), Tattle Tale, & Scarlet Lady.
10. And Atwater Village - Tam O' Shanter (1922), The Roost (1930), & Club Tee Gee (1946).
11. The Blue Room in Burbank - 1947. Remember the scene in "Memento" where Carrie-Anne Moss spits into Guy Pearce's beer stein? It was shot here.
12. And oh yeah, the Foc'sle in Wilmington.
All the addresses and further reviews are Yelp-able.
Oh, and that Denny's above, it's one of the former Van de Kamp’s Bakeries.
Also on that note of repurposed Mid-century restaurants, the Mr. Cecil's BBQ joint in West LA is a former Chili Bowl...

MISSION HILLS
The Bear Pit - good BBQ, great neon, and rustic bear theme - 10825 Sepulveda

Not tiki, but vintage and tasty. Be sure and get one of the sandwiches on garlic toast. Great beans and cole slaw too.
A bit of Missouri in the San Fernando Valley.
(Then go across the street to the San Fernando Mission and pay your respects to Ritchie Valens.)

Venice, near Robertson.
Extensive beer & wine list. Gourmet burgers. Excellent garlic fries.
Nice outside patio.

This is too much info!
Can some of you, or even one of you, give us fans of Mid-Century and the ineffibale "old" feel adn funk places give as a good day plan? Think of it like this. You got me and Mrs. Swanky for a full day and we head out early for breakfast. What is our day going to be? And we can't drink ourselves stupid, so it can't be bar after bar. Shopping, sites, whatever...

Mr. Cecil's moved to Manhattan Beach. I don;t know what is at the old Chili Bowl site. The last time I was by there (maybe a couple of months ago) it looked like it was empty.
