Mrs Pineapple, you're thinking like my husband ( a somewhat frightening thought that there are two such brains... ).
He says it's Bumble fur that is shed naturally and the elves collect the tufts off the trees.

Faux Fur...duh. Leftover from a Big Lots halloween costume. It's always been my experience that Santa is one cheep S.O.B.

Every so often I think he sheers Mrs. Claus...He can't use the leg hair for his suit cuz it sparks and causes chimly fires.
