Just wanted to let you know that Double Crown Records has some great new surf/instro releases to get you movin' during these cold winter months:
The Madeira - Sandstorm CD - #DCCD23 - $12.75
It's the debut CD by The Madeira, a new Michigan-based combo led by Ivan Pongracic (formerly of The Space Cossacks). If you liked his former band (and who didn't?) you will absolutely flip over his new combo. In some ways this is probably similar to what a 3rd 'Cossacks CD would have sounded like, but he takes this group in directions that perhaps wouldn't have been possible before. It's got 13 great tunes (only one cover - they're saving the rest of the covers recorded during the sesions for this CD for a seperate CD-EP release set for 2006). Phil Dirt, Rick of The Volcanos and others were blown away when they heard advance copies of this release - this is sure to be one of the top releases of 2005!
Tracks: Sun & Sand - Sandstorm! - Cordoba - El Caliph - Burning Mirage - Rogue Wave - The Secret Route - Desert Drums - Ricochet - Crescent Moon - Across The Dunes - Express To Baghdad - The Oasis.
Dr. Frankenstein - Crime Scenes & Murder Songs CD - #DCCD22 - $12.75
Crime Scenes & Murder Songs is the latest release from Portugal's Dr. Frankenstein! 14 new recordings, including covers of "Goldfinger", "Music To Watch (Murder) Girls By", "The Savage", "The Creeper" and "Vem". This is ready to ship now!!!
Tracks: ...At The Crime Scene - I Was a Teenage Astro-Monster - V-8 Death Race - She-Devils' Stroll - Black Clouds On The Horizon - Tiki Mug (With Cyanide) - The Spy From Madrid - The Creeper - Vem (Alem de Toda a Solidao) - AM 666 - The Savage - Music To Murder Girls By - Dance Of The Mating Mermaids - Goldfinger.
Bonney & Buzz - Rock-Ola CD - #DCCD20 - $12.75
Two UK guitar legends from the 60's are together for the first time on this fabulous new CD. Rock-Ola features Bill Bonney of The Fentones ("The Mexican" and "The Breeze & I") and Pete "Buzz" Miller ("Can Can 62" and "Totem Pole"). Buzz was also half of the Shig & Buzz project that released the CD Double Diamonds on Shag's Mai Tai Records label in the mid-90's. Rock-Ola contains twelve more "diamonds", with a smooth, deep Euro-instro sound not too removed from The Shadows, but dense with mystery and intrigue.
Tracks: The Sunburst Kid - Thunderbird Road - Drawn To The Sea - Summerstar - Bandido - Land Of The Blackhearts - Doodlebug - Bubble & Squeak - Cruise Six - Red Light Zone - Black Knickers - Electroglide.
The Continental Magazine - Issue #12 w/26 song CD - #CT012 - $5.95
The latest issue of The Continental Magazine, featuring interviews with Satan's Pilgrims and Beat Tornados, along with a 26 track CD.
These can be ordered online at www.dblcrown.com, or with Paypal (to: email@example.com). Please add $3.00 for shipping to any US address, $4.00 to Canada and $6.00 anywhere else in the world.
