October 5 has been declared "Global James Bond Day."
Friday marks the 50th anniversary of the release of "Dr. No," the first film adaptation of author Ian Fleming's British super spy James Bond.

I think it was brilliant marketing getting Adele to do the Skyfall soundtrack. Not only is she possibly one of the most popular female vocalists out there right now, but her voice with the film score is very similar to Shirley Bassey (my favorite Bond theme song vocalist).
BTW, the re-release of all of the Bond films in blu-ray is a real treat for Bond fans. I bought several of the Connery editions and the transfers all look nothing short of spectacular. Walmart, Best Buy and Target have been the designated retailers for the initial release of these films, but I think eventually, they will be available everywhere else (maybe beginning of next year).

Rather awkward placement of movie posters.

Best & Worst opening themes for James Bond movies
Then again, I thought the "View to a Kill" song was one of the few good elements of any of the Roger Moore Bond films. That and Grace Jones.
But what do I know?

Great link and a bit surprised not to see one of my all time favorite opening sequences which has to be "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." This has to do with probably the best and unique scores by John Barry. It has this amazing instrumental early electronic organ sound highlighted in the opening sequence. Super cool. If you haven't heard it, check it out!

I think Goldfinger and OHMSS are the best soundtracks to get for sure!!!! An obviously humble opinion.

I absolutely loved Skyfall, it was very visceral, not a lot of gadgets, great acting and sets and as always GREAT CARS!!! Kleinman did one of the best title sequences to date (even though I miss Maurice Binder.) Music was also very well matched and Adele did a great job. I knew the exit by one of the main folks was coming so it was well done but that actress will be missed.
I just finished my first pass through of Taschen's "The James Bond Archives"
http://www.amazon.com/James-Bond-Archives-Paul-Duncan/dp/3836521059/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355694193&sr=8-1&keywords=007+book
Being such a James Bond fan and having several books...I have to say this is the most awesome book I have ever owned. They even included Peter Sellers/Casino Royal and Never Say Never Again. The pictures are breathtaking and the layout of the book is spectacular. It will take me years to read through this book. It is so heavy it is certainly not a lapbook. Does anyone else have this book?

I never knew there was a James Bond thread on here. I'm a really big fan that hides in the shadows. I just saw Skyfall again at the local discount theater and can't wait for it to come out on DVD soon.
I was wondering if I could reach out and ask for help here on a 'Bond Girl' photo contest I've entered on the James Bond Lifestyle webpage. I'm hoping that my photos will reach to the final round with the help of friends. My photo entries are number 87, 88, and 89. Please vote for them if you like them. I know there are a few good ones out there in that bunch as well. I would appreciate the help! Mahalo.
Also, I'd like to say I'm looking forward to a few pairs of replica Skyfall cufflinks made my a cuff link maker in Italy to come in the mail! If you guys are interested then I'd be more than happy to share once they come in.
