What a fantastic thread!
Here are some Mai-Tai's from The Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian, Waikiki. One is an off-menu Trader Vic's Mai Tai (yummy!), and the other is a ginger infused Mai Tai Degeneres (Ms. VanTiki's favorite).

A-Frame and VanTiki all 3 of those look delicious!
Especially since L.A. is kinda humid today or at least it is in my Apt.

Bora Boris,
Next time you are up in Santa Barbara we can sample at least four more worthy entries for your log. Maybe not all in one night.
DC
PS: That Tiki Island above the Silver Lake makes a mean Mai Tai!

Here's another 12.
Top row left to right ~ La Descarga - Los Angeles, Ca.,Trader Sam’s - Anaheim, Ca., Satellite Bar - Los Angeles, Ca., Drago Centro - Los Angeles, Ca.
Middle row left to right ~ Havana Mania - Redondo Beach, Ca., The Mai Tai Bar - Long Beach, Ca., Aloha Steakhouse - Ventura, Ca., Fishbar - Manhattan Beach, Ca.
Bottom row left to right ~ Duke’s - Huntington Beach, Ca., Benihana - San Francisco, Ca., Shogun – Pasadena, Ca., Fisherman’s - Grotto San Francisco, Ca.
The best of this group were from La Descarga and Trader Sam's.
The not-so- best were Fisherman's Grotto San Francisco (still fun though) and Duke's Huntington Beach. YAMA HAMA!

Great pics Bora Boris! That's quite a research project you've undertaken. I'm sure it must be difficult for you. Ha!
It doesn't surprise me that the two worst were the ones you mentioned based simply on appearance. The far left bottom looks like a rum and coke and the far right is Pink. No Mai-Tai should EVER be pink.
Cheers and Aloha!

Here's 12 from my trip to Waikiki in October.
Top row left to right ~ Kana Ka Pila Grille, La Mariana Sailing Club, Shore Bird, House Without a Key.
Middle row left to right ~ Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Bar, Ilikai, Chart House Guy Tai, Hula Grill.
Bottom row left to right ~ Chuck's Steak House, Moana Surfrider, Royal Hawaiian Scratch Mai Tai, Royal Hawaiian’s Trader Vic’s Style Mai Tai.
My favorites in order were The House Without a Key, both Royal Hawaiian Mai Tais (the scratch and the Trader Vic’s style), the Guy Tai made by Guy was solid.
My least favorite was Hula Grill's, it had almost an appley taste to it but I won't let one bad appley Mai Tai spoil the whole bunch.

Was just going through some pics from 2012, and came across a snapshot of my favorite mai tai of the year. Sometimes it's not just the drink, but everything else around the drinker too, that makes it great.
Our dining table gets blasted by the evening sun in the summer, so we usually have the blinds closed during dinner. For some reason this one evening we left them open. And usually I don't make mai tais, just because there's a lot of other drinks I like better. But again, this was an exception. So with those two elements plus an exceptional breaded fish dinner from my wife, the whole shebang was so satisfying I had to take a picture. I guess these are the kinds of warm summer nights you remember in February.

Here's another 12, I'm just 4 away from 100.
Top row left to right ~ Atlantis Seafood & Steak - Waikiki, HI, Circa - Manhattan Beach, Sassafras Saloon - Hollywood, Safari Room - Mission Hills.
Middle row left to right ~ Hotel Casa Del Mar - Santa Monica, Rincon Room [Home Bar] Ventura, Hale Hawaii - Torrance, Paul Martin’s - El Segundo.
Bottom row left to right ~ Yamashiro - Hollywood, Cinco - Westchester, Kealoha's Taste of the Islands & Mai Tai Lounge - Chino – CLOSED, Barcopa - Santa Monica.
All are from California except for the one from Atlantis.
My favorites were Sassafras and Circa, Paul Martin's was a cool surprise. The Hale Hawaii was tasty and drinks in the Rincon Room are always delicious.
