Thanks, Mahalo and mucho gracias everybody!!!!
I still have my head stuck in the stratus opacus and my feet have not touched the terra firma in days. I really am glad that all of you are all so stoked on the design. I talked with Stuckie and the Man From Munkle yesterday and they are both very enthusiastic about this project and eager to start. Stuckie and I went over some of the details and I am going to start working on more detailed sketches for the outside walls this week. I let them know I was not opposed to any design tweaks that will make the mug easier to produce thus more affordable. He is not phased by any of the detail of my design and not worried about any of the detail.
Hanford as we all know is da man and there still are some things to hash out regarding the actual size, how many will be made and a few other details. I would like to see the mug made big enough for all of us to sip off it at the same time, but as Hanford has pointed out. He wants to make it some what affordable. The bigger it gets the more expensive it becomes. So it doesn't make much sense to have an Ohana Hut that only the ali'i can afford.
Prints are a possibility but once again this is Hanford's gig and he has the final word on what happens. Also, the art I submited for the contest were rough sketches at best and were not intended to be printed. If prints become a possibility the art will have to be reworked in a higher resolution to be printed.
I am excited to get crackin' on this and hope to talk to Hanford in the near future about the next step to getting started and getting my star back.
Once again a very gigantic THANK YOU from a very humble Chongolio. Y'all are the rockers!
Chongz

That happened to me but the doctor used forceps to get me out before I turned blue.

Any ideas of the ballpark in which you're trying to keep it?
As sketched, I could see that being $100+ (going by the Hukilau bowl, which although it has the handpainted stripe of gold, is simple comparitively). That's the basis for my fearful post on p.1.
I just hate to miss both a Shecky (none available back then) and an Ohana hut (if too costly for me)

I think, if I can interpret Chongo's illustration properly, it appears that there are already 4 straws sticking out. So, your dream may already be coming true!
If you look at the drawing, there are to straws in the foreground, and then what appear to be 2 more what appear to be shadows of the foreground ones. I think these are intended to be 2 more...

I've a suggestion:
Why not make the 2nd & 3rd mugs available too?
These would inevitably be cheaper to manufacture & be very popular with Tiki Centralites too. If the Ohana Hut ends up costing $100, a large number who could afford it would be able to buy the other two mugs (at what? $10 -20 each?). Those who couldn't afford the hut would end up being very happy with one or two damn fine mugs that got close to winning.
So, Joe Tiki Central buys the hut.
Fred Moneybags buys the Hut, & 2 & 3.
Bob Cashflowproblem buys 2 or 3.
Pete Munktiki lover (non-TikiCentralite) buys up anything left over that the public are allowed to buy.
And Tiki Central gets more funds.....
Everyone wins.
Any thoughts?
Trader Woody

It will be some time until these are ready.
I'm planing on posting photos as I go along. Right now its just a rough block of clay, which I will post asap. I've gotten a bit busy so I haven't been able to work on it too much.

Your concept is x-treme ART at it finest, well done Chongolio! It would be great to see the finished product at Oasis VI.
