Looks like Tiki-Invasion will be moving to late April or May. Still checking to see if any other events conflict with that time frame. Good news is that it should be a bit cooler and we won't have to wait a whole year for it to get here, LOL.
Learned a lot at the last one, we know what to keep and what to change. Can't wait to get Tiki-Invasion II up and rolling!

Hope one of the things you keep is the GHASTLY ONES - they really ROCKED! I'm a totally Goth-a-billy nut after seeing them! That, and maybe show one of the thar cool Godzilla movies we saw trailers to!

GROG look forward to Tiki Invasion II. The music was outstanding the first go round. The 88. GROG didn't get their CD the first time. GROG hope they play again, so GROG can enjoy them live and get a CD this time.

Thank you for the compliments on the lineup. I try to choose the bands very carefully, and it's nice to see my efforts are appreciated.
The Ghastly Ones will certainly be back. They also played our Drive-Invasion in Atlanta on 9/2 and blew us all away again out there. Awesome!
Speaking of awesome, if you haven't been out to the MTDI lately, hang onto your hats! Tiki Diablo has gone way, way, waaaay beyond the call with the tiki decor! His work is just incredible. Wish I had my camera with me for the Huell Howser event (10/14/06), the place was looking incredible. I would love to post some recent pictures here at Tiki Central. Gigantic improvements have been made, especially to the snack bar exterior. I can hardly imagine how good it'll be looking by the next Tiki-Invasion.

Three events that may conflict are:
1. Viva Las Vegas #10! - April 5-8
2. Ponderosa Stomp #6 in New Orleans - May 2
3. Rockin' 50s Fest III in Green Bay - May 16-20
I'm going to #1 and #3 for sure, so I hope I can make it to the Tiki Invasion again.

Tiki-Invasion update:
Alas, it looks like Tiki-Invasion II at the Mission Tiki Drive-In will have to wait until spring of '08 until we can blow the roof off the place again. That is, if Drive-Ins HAD roofs.
It will be worth the wait, and it will be better than ever!
Other Tiki events, car shows and film festivals will be taking place at the Mission Tiki all year long, so check our website often. And yes we do show first run movies every day, all year long. Visit www.missiontiki.com for movie schedules and showtimes.
Meanwhile, Drive-Invasion '07 (at Atlanta's Starlight Drive-In) is full steam ahead for labor day weekend (Sept 1&2, '07) and I've already signed several major label bands for that event. Visit www.starlightdrivein.com for the latest info on that wild event.
Cheers and mahalo!

Ha! Great question Jeff! Well, for one Teri and I are planning our wedding this year, so that pretty much cooks it right there. Second, I've been working in Atlanta nearly since the LAST Tiki-Invasion, and will probably be there through the end of March. That leaves me fairly out of touch with the Mission Tiki until that assignment is over.
When I do the next Tiki-Invasion, I want it to be really outstanding, and I just don't feel like I'll be able to focus enough on it and stick to the early May timeframe. And with Atlanta's Drive-Invasion happening in September, that cuts it too close for comfort. It was a real trip last year having Tiki-Invasion on 8/5 and Drive-Invasion on 9/2&3. Unfortunately, Drive-Invasion got short changed a bit because all of my focus was on Tiki-Invasion. I won't make that mistake again. Though they were both fun events, it's just too much work having them that close together. So, I opted to wait until '08 to do what should be a STELLAR Tiki-Invasion.
Hope you're doing well! See you soon I hope!

Weddings are more important than a Tiki Invasion Drive In? Hey, hows this, get married AT the Tiki Invasion Drive In! The Ghastly Ones could really rock on "Here Comes the Bride!"
Okay?

It kind of sucks that we have to wait a year to see the nefarious Diablo's doings in person. WE WANNO GO!
Why not have a 'soft opening' this spring, any weekend is good, have a Tiki night of all surfing and South Seas classic movies, a few intermission drawings for some swell swag, and Diablo could sell some shirts & mugs behind the popcorn machine and take everybody on a little tour?
Or is that too low key? Sometimes low key is good key.

I just had to see what you posted 'Vid so I did some snooping and figured I'd give you a hand with the image. Good call swiping the old Tiki Oasis weekend slot! The weather will be much nicer in May...
I can't wait to see what you have planned for us this time!

Wow, thanks John!
Was that the old Oasis slot? I didn't even realize, but yes I think you are correct! I was going to shoot for the 10th, but Sunday the 11th is Mother's Day, not a good day to sport a considerable hangover, LOL.
I'm just glad to have settled on a date and get on with it again. It'll be another great event with all or most of last year's bugs worked out! We're shooting for a smoother event all the way around, including better vendor placement.
I'm excited! And busy! LOL
Thanks for the HTML help.
